Shawn Bates Released

Shawn Bates' tryout with the club has ended. We thought he might have had a chance to make the club, but he was released today. In addition, forwards Tom Fritsche and Cedric McNicoll were sent to Lake Erie, goalies Peter Delmas and Brandon Maxwell were reassigned to their junior clubs as were defensemen Samuel Finn and Patrick Cusack.

The Avalanche now have 49 players in camp. 43 of them are listed on the roster for the Burgundy and White scrimmage tomorrow night. For those wondering who is still in camp but not playing tomorrow, I've already gone through the list for you:

I wonder if that means anything. Secret injury? Coaches not pleased with his play or work ethic. Come to think of it, I don’t remember anybody writing anything about him participating in the post rookie camp scrimmages. Of course, let me know if I am wrong.

he was in the Day 1 and Day 2 scrimmages, not today though. Could be injury, could be a message, could just be a rotation (esp with the team playing 3 straight games)

Hyphens cause writers more trouble than any other form of punctuation, except perhaps commas.

The team also reassigned defenseman Patrick Cusack to Quebec, wing Tom Fritsche to Lake Erie, goalie Peter Delmas to Quebec, goalie Brandon Maxwell to Kitchener and center Cedric McNicoll to Lake Erie.

Looks like some more re-assignments to note.
