I watched that game (Live in FSN Pitt area) and Tavares was pretty invisible for the majority of the game, he had one decent chance, but that was it.
He got laid out pretty good once as well.

Scoring is one way to evaluate who should be rookie of the year. To be a complete player Matt needs to improve defensively. I’d actually like to see Sacco use him on the PK occasionally. Then maybe the pundits who vote for Rookie of the Year will see that he is an all-round player that the coach uses in all situations.
I agree. His +/- will hurt him in that whole voting thing. Not that I put any merit in (1) that stat or (2) that award. I still know Dutchy rocks.
