Talk about feeling Minnesota. The Avalanche played the former North Stars on Sunday, the Wild last night and now we're back to the Stars. I hope we're done with anything to do with Minnesota for a while now. If I find out we're playing Marion Gaborik's team on Sunday, I might have to scream.
Needless to say, the Avalanche will be looking to rebound from last night's tough loss. So far this year, the Stars have been easy pickings with Colorado winning both matches so far by an combined score of 8-1. Both wins were at the Pepsi Center though; Dallas is much better this year at home (15-5-5).
A win by the Avs won't get them back into first in the NW, as Vancouver has more wins than Colorado. However, it would get them back into 4th and keep them within striking distance of that division title. A single point tonight would also guarantee the head-to-head series against Dallas this year, but two would be better. No pressure.

Well
It sucks that our losing streak ended from causes unknown to me. Oh well better start a new one.
And Calgary lost, again. 3 points in their last 11 games.
Avalanche 2009-2010: Ostensibly, the worst team in the league. Realistically, top of the NW division.

Odds on a Budaj sighting? He’s 1-0 with 1 GA this season and 3-1-2 lifetime against Dallas.
The Avalanche, clearly, are down with No PP.
I’m wondering that myself. I’m really interested to see how Sacco handles this heavy stretch of games, especially with some low-lying fruit on the schedule.
Anderson is red hot, though. Tough to sit him right now.

I only buy coffee from a local roaster down in LoDo, but its expensive, so I barely buy it. I know the local coffee shops that carry it tho, and I do sometimes drop in to get a cupper. Really really good coffee is hard to do right, but if you grind it up and press it, its pretty damn tasty.
Thanks Joe...
I just realized that my 5 least favorite NHL teams (Detroit, Calgary, Minnesota, Anaheim, Dallas in that order) are all battling for the right to be demolished by Chicago in the first round of the playoffs.

BJs and Canucks
Would be second tier. Canucks are tough for me because I used to be a fan, living in Seattle before the Avs came into being. The Bertuzzi incident certainly soured me on them, but all of those players (including Burke and Crow) are gone. Burrows is a douche though.

It’s a good list. Though, I’m tempted to say I really only hate the other teams in the Northwest because we play in the division.
Aside from inherently hating guys like Bertuzzi and Phadouche, if we suddenly didn’t play in the Northwest anymore, I’m not sure I would maintain my dislike for Calgary, Vancouver, or Minnesota. (P.S. I like that Edmonton is so pathetic they get completely ignored)

would be this up to #50, then the second tier would start.
But for the sake of brevity:
1-50 Detroit
51 Los Angeles (product of a few years at Frozen Fury in Vegas)
52 Vancouver (Naslund/Bertuzzi leftovers, plus never liked the Sedan bros.)
53 Minnesota (annoying. just annoying.)
54 Cal-gary (division rival, plus our overwhelming trade deficit)
55 would start with Detroit again for a while…. :)
Mine
1. Detriot
2. Montreal (Have you met a Habs fan? Almost as bad as Les Ailes fans)
3. Calgary
4. Minny
5. Dallas
I’m also not fond of the Sens, but the pity I feel outweighs the hate.

DALLAS — Avalanche coach Joe Sacco this morning said he would come back with Craig Anderson in goal tonight against the Dallas Stars, and Colorado captain Adam Foote came off after an extraordinarily lengthy stay on the ice at the morning skate and said he would be in the lineup in the game at the American Airlines Center.
Minutes earlier, Sacco said he wasn’t sure if Foote would be available, but the veteran defenseman then came off the ice, met with Sacco and then said he would play for the first time since suffering a sprained ankle at Carolina on Jan. 8. He has missed seven games.
Foote said of the ankle: “It feels good. It’s going to linger for a while. It’s a lower one, though, which is better than a high one. It feels pretty strong. If I redo it, it’s going to be a fluky play.”
Sacco confirmed Anderson, who had 25 saves in the 1-0 to Minnesota at home on Thursday night, again would be in the net on the second night of the back-to-back games. It would be Anderson’s 45th start in 53 Colorado games.
“I talked to him this morning,” Sacco said of Anderson. “I don’t think his workload was very heavy last night. It was one of those games where there wasn’t a lot of action. He felt fine, he feels rested, he’s going to go tonight.”
The Avalanche arrived at its Dallas hotel at about 2 in the morning following the chartered flight from Denver.

I figured Andy would start. I don’t believe Budaj will play again this season unless Anderson is injured or ill. He will play him until the Olympic break, and then he will have 2 weeks to rest. If Budaj does play again, it may be for one or two games max, on back-to-backs.

I have a sneaking suspicion that you are right.

I hope people are wrong too. I may be the biggest Anderson guy out there (that sounds wrong)…but seriously, why run him into the ground? There is a good chance the Avs are going to make the playoffs, and with a hot (and rested) Anderson, anything would be possible

As we’ve discussed in other threads, Andy is out to prove himself this season. Every indication seems to be that Sacco asks Andy if he’s good to play, and he is always ready to go. It’s Andy’s job to lose.
That said, Andy’s playing great right now, and back to what I’d call his regular form. Hot was when he was facing a million shots a night and still getting us wins in October.

Those skiing/snowboarding sun burns seem to be the worst! Not sure if it’s the altitude or what. The first time I forgot to wear sunscreen while snowboarding was the very last time.
