Who Gets The Call?
For those who might have missed it, Craig Anderson injured his knee during warmups last night. He was not on the bench for the game and has returned to Denver, meaning he will miss the game in Calgary for sure.
The Avalanche will be calling up either John Grahame or Jason Bacashihua today. Both have NHL experience (224 games for Grahame, 38 games for B-Cash). Interestingly, both have almost identical stats so far in Lake Erie:
| # | Goalies |
GP |
Mins |
W |
L |
SL |
SO |
GA |
GAA |
SVS |
SV% |
| 47 | John Grahame | 4 | 244 | 2 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 10 | 2.46 | 101 | 0.910 |
| 35 | Jason Bacashihua | 4 | 242 | 1 | 2 | 1 | 0 | 10 | 2.47 | 100 | 0.909 |
Considering that Peter Budaj will be the starter on Thursday anyway, does it even matter which guy gets called up to wear the baseball cap?

Grahame
Since last nights game started I have believed it would be Grahame, and Terry Frei reported in his article for the DP this morning it would most likely be Grahame. He has played well for Lake Erie and has more NHL experience. Budaj will most likely be starting all of the game until Andy comes back anyways, so I don’t think it really makes a difference.
Put It On Ice Another Colorado Avalanche blog
B-Cash, Grahame may have more NHL experience, but his stint in camp was awful, and the LE games I saw him in last year were nothing short of “meh.” God forbid something happen to Budaj, and I have to watch Grahame back in the NHL. The thought frightens me
I thought it was pretty Osgood to take a Bertuzzi behind the Draper, but it ended up blowing the Abdelkader of my Kronwall.
Trade for Thomas.
Matt Duchene, better at being Pavel Datsyuk than Pavel Datsyuk!!!
T.J. Galiardi, now without B.O...
Lets see how long Andy is out before we trade for someone.
And even if Andy’s out for the season (knockonwood, knockonwood) Thomas has 3 seasons left on hsi contract (including this one). IF we were going to trade for a goalie, I’d want one that is a UFA we could dump at the end of the season

B-Cash. No questions.

For, or against?
2010-2011 Colorado Avalanche: pretty good at hockey since they can't get into the bars yet.
I'll be here all week!

ERSBERG!!
Best choices to help the Avs move forward in this time of adversity: Maxwell( who had a great camp while he was here) or King’s reject Ersberg who played exceptionally well for them in relief of Quick last year. He is rumored to be headed to the KHL if someone doesn’t sign him. Hopefully Andy will be back soon and strong!!
I’ve spent a lot of time watching Ersberg (being from LA and all) and I actually liked him a lot. I think a change of scenery would do him good. He was kind of the scapegoat of the Kings once Quick showed up and didn’t get the credit he deserved. He did have some stinker games tho.
I think he already has signed (or at least announced) he’s going to the KHL, however.
Bitch, give me your lunch money.

If it didn’t mean he’d be sitting on the bench instead of playing in the game, I’d say dress Radar as the backup. Dude is solid this year.
Mile High Hockey: Significantly better than the experts predicted, just like the Avalanche.
Pierre LaCroix would cover a lot of net. Is he an option?

Deadmarsh would be better

Ditto the Doc. I want Cash, which means it will be Grahame. He was GOD AWFUL during both camps and pre-season, so I don’t know how they could possibly bring him in. Alas, they will.
Bitch, give me your lunch money.
This scares me
You have been right on the money with all your other assessments (except not enough on Winnik ;) ) So I’m rather worried about seeing him in an Avs uniform. Hopefully, Andy will get some love at home, and be okay after the short road trip.

Do any of the LE goalies have to go through waivers to be called up or sent back down when they’re done?
From Aebischer to Yip, excluding Young.

Yeah really
poor Wieman…
Seeing as neither goalie has NHL experience and both have identical numbers, who knows
Im just happy Budaj is going to get some wins under his belt
El Nino is Spanish. It is the Spanish word for child. Like all things Spanish, it is dangerous. It kills people and burns down trees. This child is more than a child. It really isn't a child at all. It is a storm. A deadly storm that kills people and burns down trees.
