Denver Post screws up
I saw that headline in the paper this morning and I definitely did a double take. I doubt it's Dater's fault because the columnists usually don't write their own headlines, or at least don't check the final version. Dater probably sent it to the editor with the headline "Jones earns top six position" or something like that, and the editor decided it needed to be more specific.

I was the best sports headline and lead paragraph writer for my college paper. Then I decided that I needed to use my degree and get a real paying job. Sadly.

One day I should try that, when this radio thing stops paying the big bucks (that was hard to type without bursting into hysterical laughter)
I thought it was pretty Osgood to take a Bertuzzi behind the Draper, but it ended up blowing the Abdelkader of my Kronwall.
If you like what you’re doing, you’re ahead of the game. Don’t do it man. Don’t sell out like I did. And actually, you have a good voice for radio. I have a face for radio and a voice for print journalism.

and writing skill for television
2010-2011 Colorado Avalanche: pretty good at hockey since they can't get into the bars yet.
Thus my paying, but miserable, job.

AD manned up on Twitter:
Called Jones a center in paper today, when of course I meant left wing. IDIOT

Yeah, he wrote a similar confession on his blog too. Good for Dater. I got a chuckle out of it.
Because I’m an idiot, I had David Jones listed as the new second-line center in the print paper today. Of course, I meant to type left wing – but somehow didn’t.

I won a CPA award for headline writing ...
… in the same year I put pubic instead of public in a headline. Shit happens.
The best part was that the Colorado Press Association misspelled my last name on my award and I had to send in for a new one.

Current Yahoo Fansasy report on Matt Duchene.
Recommendation: It was announced on Tuesday that David Jones will center the team’s second line, the spot Duchene occupied last season. Assuming this new arrangement sticks, we don’t think a move to the wing will have a long-term impact on Duchene’s fantasy value. However, it might take him a few games to get adjusted. Don’t panic if he starts the season slowly – he’s a rising star in the NHL and will get his points no matter what forward position he plays.

Matt Duchene, better at being Pavel Datsyuk than Pavel Datsyuk!
I'm new around here.
Hmmm, that means that Pavel Datsyuk moved to wing yesterday.

Dater.
See what you caused? It’s clearly your fault that Rotowire only reads headlines and doesn’t check their sources. Tsk tsk.
