Now, I know it's never going to happen, but I got to thinking earlier today...what does our lineup look like when everone is healthy? Here's what we'll have without any line combos predicated (and of course, some players can move around).
Center: Stastny, Duchene, O'Reily, Dupuis.
Left Wing: Jones, Mueller, Galiardi, Fleischman, Mauldin, Van der Gulik.
Right Wing: Stewart, Hejduk, Winnik, Yip, Porter, Koci.
Defense: Liles, Shattenkirk, Wilson, Quincey, Hunwick, O'Byrne, Cumisky.
Goaltender: Anderson, Budaj.
I probably missed someone. But jump with me for prospective combos!
So, here's what I would do, off the top of my head.Fleischman-Stastny-Stewart
Mueller-Duchene-Hejduk
Galiardi-O'Reily-Winnik
Jones-Dupuis-Yip
Liles-O'Byrne
Shattenkirk-Quincey
Wilson-Hunwick
Anderson (Budaj)
That leaves (forwards) Mauldin, Koci, Porter, Van der Gulik, and (defenseman) Cumisky to either man the press box, get sent to LEM, or otherwise get the hell out of dodge. And let's be honest, putting Jones and Yip on the fourth line is a little ridiculous. Yip, maybe, but Jonesey is a top 6 guy.
So, if Fleischman doesn't work out, we scratch (or maybe deadline deal?) him and promote Jones to the top line, then plug Mauldin or maybe Porter in on the fourth. Koci is an easy scratch, and VDG can be sent down. I'd like to keep Mauldin around, which probably means that Porter goes back to LEM. And, of course, there's Cumisky. I'd prefer a trade, but having him pull pressbox duty is fine with me, too.
That's my idea. Now you all don your coach's hat, and play around in the injury-free fantasyland!
