+/- Based On Team Average - NW Division
Every somewhat smart hockey fan knows that the +/- stats that are used so often are useless because it's easier to get a good rating when you're playing for a good team. So what I did is to calculate the team average +/- (trades ignored to not make it too complicated) and subtract that number from the known +/- to create the "real" +/- stats.
For example Matt Duchene's +/- is +4 at the moment but since the Avs' average is +2, his real +/- is just +2. (4-2=2 if the text confused you). On the other hand, Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson's +/- is +1 but his team sucks and has an average of -2 so his real stat is +3 (1-[-2]=3). Here's the top and worst 15 of the Northwest Division and the individual stats of all Avs players, if there's enough interest and motivation I might do this for the whole league some day.

This once again proves what we all know: The Avs' depth is insane. 4 players in the top 15 and only 1 in the worst 15, their second worst player is Milan Hejduk (29 G, 32 P)!
For a player with such a +/- and 27 points in 35 games (as defenseman) playing for one of the worst teams in the league, Ryan Whitney definitely doesn't get enough credit for what he's done so far this season. Vancouver's top lines are great but their bottom 6 seem to be struggling. That team with Colorado's bottom six would be scary.
