I was curious how the Avs position in the Western Conference has changed by date since the start of the season.
The graph may not be 100% accurate since the website I used (http://www.shrpsports.com/nhl/stand.htm) sorts the teams by points and has no knowledge of tiebreakers and division crowns. Like for example if the Avs had the NW crown but LA had more points, it placed the Kings atop the Avs. I tried to fix these inaccuracies in my graph.
Neat to see how long they were #1 in the conference, and how turbulent the standings were from mid-November to end of December. They have also never fallen out of a play off position since opening day.
Anyways, I hope you find this as interesting as I did.
UPDATE: Flipped graph, update with last night's win over ATL.
