Liles Healthy Scratch again????
So what is with Liles being a healthy scratch so much?? Is he on his way out the door? I mean I like what we have and now both Liles and Salei are the healthy scratches it makes me wonder why does he keep getting scratched ahead of Clarke?? Is something brewing to where the AVs are wanting to make sure he doesn't get hurt? Do we have to many Offensive Defensemen coming up next year?? Or is he part of a trade about to go down in which case why are we not showcasing him??

Apparently
The coaches aren’t too happy with his two-way effort in recent games. He’s doing well on the PP and offensively, but they’re trying to send a message that he needs to up his effort defensively.
Interesting comment…considering he’s only been on the ice for one goal against in the past 10 days as opposed to the top D line who’s been on ice for 7. But who’s counting?

Funny way to generate trade interest
once a player is into healthy scratch category, and with a healthy contract, the Avs have lost almost all leverage in a trade.
"You have been banned from the Purple Row, for Inappropriate conduct, profanity, (&) telling site authors their articles are crap."
Or.............
they don’t want him to get hurt while trying to trade him.
Last thing we want, is Liles to go and pull a Souray
I'd buy that more
if the deal was just about finalized and ready to go through.

I don’t think Sacco cares about trade interest. The dude plays the guys who he thinks are playing best, period. Whether or not we agree with what he thinks is up for debate, but trade interest is for GM’s to worry about, not head coaches. And the healthy scratches for defensemen will only get more interesting when Salei cracks the line-up.
Exactly. I have no clue. I would suppose Clark, right? No matter what you’re gonna have a couple of angry d-men who feel they should be playing but aren’t. And who knows: Maybe Clark is being played ahead of Liles because HE’S being showcased for a trade. I mean does anyone expect the Avs to re-sign him with the expected talent they have coming up in the system?. . . I have a headache now. :)
between your headache and my tummy ache, we’re a mess. lol.

that may be true, but you better believe that if a GM tells a coach, “Bench him,” the coach will bench him.

With all the up and coming D-men the avs have, I would not be surprised to see Clark, Liles, Salei and Pressing traded or on Waivers. I don’t think anybody will take Pressing unless its for one of those (reboot/jump-start his career projects) that teams so often do.
Liles could be bundled with another player in a trade, where clark and Salei will fetch 3rd round ( second at best ) draft picks.
Hard to move Liles' contract
We’re overpaying him in this market.

agreed, it would have to be a team that really needs a puck moving powerplay man with a decent point shot, and that would have to be in the middle of a playoff race, not many teams come to mind.
What about Les Habs?
What’s that Bob? Stepping down? Time off you say?
Never mind.
2009-2010 Colorado Avalanche - On the upside, there's only 25 more (regular season) games of Darcy Tucker left!
There should be modest interest in Liles based on relatively recent past. It happens a lot that a good player loses his confidence/chemistry with a team and then resurrects with a new one. Teams might be interested in giving him a chance to do regain the status he had just two years ago.
Also, I question whether the pine time is hardball, as in, “Yes, you can hold up the trade we want to make if you want to, but if you do, we can be pricks too.” A GM might be willing to send a message that way and other GM’s would probably not discount the player much b/c of it if they knew that was what was going on. Not all of this stuff makes the paper.
