Long time fan, first time blog
Okay, so I'm just a little bored at work and decided to finally put in y two cents worth. I'm new to MHH, but I've taken some time to look at the community and now have the desire to introduce myself to all of you with a short history on why I love the Avs and hockey in general. I guess if you're interested in knowing, follow the break. If not, you suck. From the bottom of my ass, go fall down a well.
Wow, so you like me! You really like me! Sally Field, eat your heart out. Now, I come from Boise, Idaho and have had no access to hockey until the Steelheads came in to shine a hockey light here over a decade ago, but I was a casual fan of the coolest game long before then. Unfortunately I had no team anywhere close either. I tried liking the Kings when Gretzky was there, but rooting for large market teams is not part of my nature. I had a respect for the Pens and have a Jagr rookie card floating around somewhere, but the east coast is just too far away.
Tune in 1995 something amazing happened. I turned on Fox Sports Nothwest and saw a game fed from Fox Sports Rocky Mountain. Lo and behold, I finally had a local market team to follow! And to top it all off, they were good! They even won this big silver trophy with a bowl on top! Following that wonderful season, I was hooked. I was sixteen and finally rooted for a winner. In subsequent years I must have purchased a hat every season. Christmas in 1997 brought me a poster of Patrick Roy (one on One with the Wall) which still remains framed in my man room next to his certified autographed photo I recieved in the summer of 2002. My elation in 2001 was indescribable. I was so hooked I watched Game 7 at a buddy's party all alone while others were wondering where I was.
In 2003 I felt the need to make a change, so I moved to Vancouver BC with all my Avs gear in tow. Suffice to say, I wasn't popular when sporting a Nordiques tee and Avs hat to the French Canadians. And yes, I was there when The Hit happened. Or should I call it The Tackle? Either way, that knob goblin berfuckintuzzi was made out like a martyr while I called for his public lynching to be held in the Plaza of Nations. Now, I've been through thick and thin for my boys - pre and post lockout.
From the heyday of Cups galore and Conference Finals to the lows of Arnageddon and the betrayal of signing Brad "Bounty Hunter" May. To say I'm excited as a puppy is an understatement. It feels like God is rubbing my tummy. This year's team is fun to watch and yet they're only getting started. Here's to the future and the Cups to go with it.
(By the by- this was all written on an iPhone during a graveyard shift so piss off if you have grammatical corrections or want to complain on the stream of conciousness style of writing - I'm bored and tired dammit) End of line.

Dude, “knob goblin” and “God is rubbing my tummy” all in the same post? All done on the iphone?! rec’d.
Welcome to MMH.
Let me tell you, it was a bitch getting this fucker formatted right on the iPhone. In fact, I can see several errors in my paragraph breaks and spelling. I won’t edit it though – kinda gives the piece charm with the fact that I wrote it that way.

Hola y bienvenidos!
As always, don’t get attached to los gatitos. They die, though not nearly as frequently as they used to. Thanks, Ferris!
