I stumbled over to M&G...I know, I know! They had this post up and it had this chart from the Sharks site and it actually seemed like a decent chart and it put the Avs right about where we all say they'd really be Andy aside (7th) and they still say we're a bunch of lucky bastards and that chart proved it and and and....I couldn't help commenting that 7th...well...how is that luck?

I sort of trolled, but not really. Shared my thoughts on what should happen to Cooke tonight in a fanpost on FTR. Would have posted it on BTN instead, but since it didn’t mention Corsi, I figured it didn’t belong there.

Jibbles is an older man so you can trust what he says.

The ’Nuck response to that shall be entertaining.

Beachie, I think you’re confused, when you go in and say, “Calgary, you all suck a big one.” is trolling, letting them know what everyone else does is educating, and it looks like they’ll have plenty of time for education in there extra long off season.

Steve Moore’s last act as a hockey player was beating Matt Cooke’s ass, which makes him a great great person.

No, it doesn’t, but it proves that they have been overachieving. I believe this chart is meant to show that, in general, a poor record against the best teams in your own conference is detrimental to your team’s overall record and position in the standings, and it’s the factors not included here—phenomenal goaltending, shooting percentages, record against non-playoff teams, OTL points, etc.—that are the reasons why some of the teams shown here place higher in the actual standings.

You mean to say losing games is a bad thing in terms of the standings?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day.

It's really complicated, I know.

I’m glad they’re explaining it to us. I wasn’t quite sure of the concept before.

Their shitty analysis aside,

The table does bring up a good point – the Avs have not looked at all good against the best the West has to offer. They’ve lost their last 5 games against the top 9 (3-2 to CAL, 6-4 to VAN, 3-1 to PHX, 3-2 to DET, and 3-0 to LAK), and are having their weak points picked apart lately. If the better team had won the Stars and Blues games, we’d be in panic mode – especially with 9 of our final 12 games against the top 9 and 2 of them against the always-dangerous Ducks.

We can’t take anything for granted just yet.
