THN is seriously lacking...
in Avalanche coverage. I went to their site today to see what the upcoming magazine issue featured and was greeted with a story on Stamkos & Downie. Great... something new besides the same crap they have been peddling for years of recycled info from their website (from a few weeks back) and an updated story about how great Ovechkin, Crosby, Red Wings, etc are. So we know they can cover other teams and players but why no love yet for the Avs? Its not like Anderson hasn't been a beast, Stewart a manbearpig, and Duchene tearing up the rookie scoring for possible cover stories... not to mention the other youngsters who could support a worthy story for the cover. I'm sure that the amount of people who want to read about Stewart & Duchene far outweighs Stamkos & Downie. Nothing against those two as I am actually looking forward to reading the story but THN needs to spread out the coverage to keep this reader (and probably a few others). Ok I'm done ranting.

Nothing new really. I do a daily sweep of the hockey sites and it’s generally the same deal everywhere. Even NHL.com is weak on the Avs coverage. I am shocked actually about the regularity with which ESPN features pics of Duchene. It’s pretty cool.
The 2009-2010 Colorado Avalanche: People can stop waiting for these kids to hit the wall. They won’t.
THN, much like TSN and the rest of the Canadian media hates the Avs. 2 friends of mine (Flames and Nucks fans) explained it thusly:
1) Colorado “took” a Canadian team and made it a dynasty
2) Colorado has/d been kicking 1/2 of the Canadian teams butts on a regular basis
3) Ever since the lockout, they were preaching the doom of the Avs… they got it right last year, but this year, the Avs are making THN look like fools, so even less press
4) They know their readership, and would sooner focus on writing articles about how many kernels of corn is in Brian Burke’s stool, than right about the Avs.
Seriously… if you go to TSN.ca, you’ll notice if a Canadian team beats the Avs, it’s on their page for 1/2 a day…. if the Avs win, it gets 15 minutes.
Avalanche players are pretty well unknown toonow that there are nosince the media hasn’t realized there are superstars on the teamanymoreyet.
