Who do you hate the most

We all have our hated teams, I'm curious about who everyone thinks the avs most heated/hated rival is.

Star-divide

For my money it's the Atlanta Thrashers, you throw out the records whenever these two teams play.  Ok, maybe not, but it's still got to be detroit.  I hate those douchebags.  I can see Vancouver, since they are good and the whole steve moore thing.  Calgary has a bunch of douches on their team, but they have never really be the avalanche when it matters (playoffs) and for that matter neither has Vancouver.   I'm very indeferent to Minnesota and I can never seem to bring myself to hate the oilers, even though both of those teams have acomplished what Vancouver and Calgary haven't.  So how do you feel?

Umm….tough choice, but I think I am still slightly adverse towards the thought of Detroit. Just a feeling though…

Come ooon. They signed BERTUZZI for heaven’s sake…

If you are talking about who the fans hate, the answer is Detroit. If we are talking about the players and the rest of the organization, who knows.

It's all fun and games until someone blows up Detroit.

Isn’t it still all fun and games after someone blows up detroit too?

The consensus was that it became a PARTY!!! after someone blows up Detroit.

It’s still Detroit but I have to be honest, Calgary is closing in. Fast. Especially when it comes to the fans. In fact, I think I dislike the Calgary fans more than the Wings fans at this point. I feel sorry for Wings fans. It’s hard to dislike someone you pity so much. But aside from a friend who likes Calgary (and I have only one who does) I’ve yet to meet a Flame fan I can tolerate much less like.

Hating Detroit isn’t just a feeling, it’s a way of life.

I’m going to figure out a way to work “Detroit sucks” into my Census form somehow.

Well, just because of this season really. They didn’t start out the season on good terms with me running Duchene and being cheap shot artists early on. Every time we play them they play dirty. In fact, the one game where I really didn’t notice many dangerous plays ended in Hanzal boarding Cumiskey.

After the game on Wednesday, my g/f and I met up with some of her friends at a bar downtown (As if I needed three more double Bushmills and ginger ales after the 6 Jim Beam lemonades I had at the game.). About 15-20 minutes into that, Journey’s don’t stop believing came on, and at the part where he sings ‘South Detroit’, I sang Red Wings suck, seemingly louder than the music itself. It was like completely involuntary, but it felt so right. So ya, I voted for them. I don’t hate the team itself like I used to, but I will never hate any team’s fans more than theirs.

meh

I like the one vote for the ATL, just remember that we burnt that town to the ground in the civil war, that is smack that can never be lived down (much like cleveland’s river being on fire). I am curious what the ‘other’ votes are for. You can’t vote for cross sports rivalrys, like the avs v oakland, although I’d be willing to lay $100 that Dutchy would win 2 more games than Jamarcus next season.

Detroit

I live in Michigan so I inherently hate them the most. I hate their stupid spoiled fans who think they are so great…Todd Bertuzzi? Twice? Really??. My friends only get up about the Wings when they see me watching the Avs. Anytime the Avs lose, they are all the first to jump on me about it.

by Avalanche318 on Mar 19, 2010 3:15 PM MDT reply actions

Detroit still wins on the hate-o-meter

but LA is #2 with a bullet.

Having gone to the Frozen Fury game in Vegas the last few years, I think overexposure to the lowest common denominator of Kings’ fandom at the drunken, overstimulated, Vegas worst has taken its toll.

Vancouver is always going to finish high in this poll, too…

I do FF every year too. Living in LA I have tons of Kings fans as friends and so I don’t hate them so much.

Detroit is still enemy number 1!

Calgary is #2. Between all the terrible trades the Avs have made with them, their fans, the douchiness of so many of their players, I almost hate them as much as the Wings.

Vancouver I don’t hate so much, sure the Moore incident might draw the ire of many fans, but most if not all of the participants in that incident have moved on to other teams.

This applies to Detroit as well, but I feel differently about them. Maybe its similar to your first love in that your first hate is always with you.

If you are asking who is the Avs biggest rival that is easily Detroit. But if you are asking who I hate the most that is Minnasota. I don’t hate Calgary that much. I don’t hate Vancouver either, but I hate playing them (the Avs always lose to them). Detroit is the Avs real rival, but it is fun watching the Avs face them. Minnasota though, I hate everything about them. I hate their players, the way they play, and most of all those horrible, ugly jerseys. Flat out hate Minnasota and hope they go to hell.

by Avs_Man on Mar 19, 2010 9:06 PM MDT reply actions

For me.....

Since I am an Avs and Kings fan, there is only team I loathe: The Ducks! From their crap brown uniforms to their Disney like fans and stadium! Its the Ducks! I hate their players, coaches – ALL OF THEM!!! Did I tell you I hated them? A close second though is the Sharks! I remember in the Ducks first season I went to a game against the Kings. One of the Duck players scored his second goal of the game (the Kings weren’t that good that year) and all the Duck fans threw their hats on the ice!!!! Then, when the announcer mentioned that it was only his second goal of the game, you could hear all the Duck fans laughing like it was soooo funny….oh Brother!!

by KaliforniaTide on Mar 20, 2010 10:31 AM MDT reply actions

So I was at the Joe Sakic night game, and I managed to get a seat right next to the one Sharks fan in the whole building. I wanted to punch this dude in the face. When Sakic comes out, everyone was chanting, “Super Joe! Super Joe!” as we should. This dipshit starts in with, “Let’s go Sharks!”

I shoot him this death look like I’m gonna kill him, and truth be told, I was probably considering it. That put an end to it pretty quickly (I’m somewhere between 6’2" and 6’3", ~245 lbs.). After the ceremony, he calls his friend up and says, “Everyone left. These people know Joe Sakic, but they don’t know hockey.” Mind you, this was 45 minutes before the game started, and there wasn’t an empty seat in the building when the puck dropped.

I thought of reminding him that we did set the record for consecutive NHL sellouts, but instead, I just looked at him and pointed at the 2 Stanley Cup banners hanging over my head as if to say, “Open your mouth again as soon as your team has half as many of those as we have. By the way, the Sharks have been around a few years longer than the Avs have been in Denver, but I digress.”

You’d think that’d be it, but he was trying to be my friend later. He goes to telling me about how he’s the biggest Sharks fan in the world and that he’d flown in from San Jose that morning. I just kinda ignored him, but I was thinking:

A) No you didn’t. And
B) I don’t give a shit. Shut your mouth.

The moral of the story is this: there are some people in this world that just need to be donkey-kicked in the teeth.

I hate the Red Wings.

by wtnelson on Mar 20, 2010 11:42 AM MDT up reply actions

I’ll never get over the Sharks team (aside from Blake) not attending the retirement ceremony despite benches being placed out for them. We weren’t raising a cup banner or something like that, people league wide can appreciate the class act Sakic was.

Yeah

there’s only three players on my good list for the Sharks.

Marleau, Blake(for many reasons), and Thornton.

As far as rivalries go, it’s the Wings for sure. But over the last two Cup Finals, I’ve come to realize that not even they can match up to my burning hatred for the Penguins.

My 2cents

1. As far as fan rivalry is concerned, there’s no question. It’s Detroit hands down.

2. For the team, I’m thinking it’s absolutely Calgary. All the games this season have been tough, exciting and close. All the ingredients for a good rivalry.

Vancouver is not a team rivalry as they’ve whipped us just about every night.
Wild games are boring, Edmonton sucks, and Atlanta doesn’t matter.
