7th Place, Good Morning
My how quickly things change. Many of you on the East Coast went to bed with our Avalanche in 5th place. You wake up and they are in 7th. Wins by Nashville and the Kings pushed the Avs back to one spot and 3 points above the hated Red Wings, who also won. It's going to interesting from here on out.
The Avs have 2 games in hand on Nashville, one on Detroit, and are even up with the Kings.
Today's games include Calgary at Minnesota, Nashville at St. Louis, and Pittsburgh at Detroit. The Avs face Anaheim today and then the Kings on Monday. No question this will be a critical pair of games.

It is unreal how all the teams around the Avs in the standings have been pulling wins out of their asses in the last week. Hasn’t mattered how far down they got in the first period, hasn’t mattered that they were playing a good team, they’ve won pretty much every game, or at least got a loser point. There will be no backing into the playoffs for the Avs, they need to be at their best these last few weeks. They definitely can’t afford anymore blown points like the Pheonix and Vancouver games.

Any playoff spot...
now that we’re long since out of the Taylor Hall sweepstakes.
It's all fun and games until someone blows up Detroit.

If they keep it up, they could win the conference, but they’ll have a difficult time winning the Northwest division. Now, the Pacific is well within their abilities, but that’s probably what you meant.

I’d say last night went about as poorly as it could have gone for the Avs.
LA won
Phoenix won
Nashville won
Oh, and a frakin’ THREE POINT GAME between Detroit and Vancouver.

Needless to say, losing tonight is not an option.
