Duchene "Hopeful" For Game 1, Jones Out.
Matt Duchene skated today and is expected to practice with the team tomorrow. Skipper Joe is "hopeful" that Duchene will be able to play Game 1 on Wednesday. I say, bank on it.
The news is not so good on David Jones and Peter Mueller. Jones is still making progress, but has been ruled out for game 1. Mueller, still suffering from a gentlemanly concussion, exercised for the first time today. While he's making progress, it doesn't sound like his return is imminent.

So who’s gonna take out Foote in Game one?

Fuck you Rob Blake. (said in a gentlemanly tone)
Jibbles is an older man so you can trust what he says.

They say the Avs look like smurfs when they wear these jerseys... I just don't see it.

He didn’t mean to hurt Mueller, you know.

A gentleman never would have even made the hit. And Blake is a gentleman. The ‘evidence’ of what you saw is an illusion from the glass or something. Not boarding at all.

As much as I hate to say it
It may be better long term to have Mueller out for the playoffs. This is his second concussion and I would rather have him ready to go next season with a more experienced Duchene to terrorize the league than to rush him back for a postseason run that we weren’t expected to have. We could put another young gun on the wing with Duchene and Hejduk to give him some more experience. The power play may not be pretty to watch without Mueller but health, at this point, is of more importance. Next year we could be a team to be reckoned with.
I agree about letting Mueller sit although my reasoning is a bit different. I want him to feel committed to the team and think of how much gratitude he’ll have if he gets the green light to take as much time as he needs to feel ready to get back out there. If they don’t rush him at all – unlike Phoenix – he’ll have mucho respect for the Avs and we’ll get a dedicated player out of it who’ll bust his ass for the organization. I think that’s worth losing his presence on the ice for this playoff “run.”

Not to be a Negative Nancy, Debbie Downer or Captain Bringdown, but ...
Mueller torched the Sharks in his last game and we really could use him. The problem with concussions is that a person may never fully recover. He may face Lindros’ fate when he comes back for all we know. Mueller has proven that he is susceptible to concussions and that could plague him for the rest of his career. It really has me worried about his future. In the world of salary cap hockey, how much do you invest in a guy like that long term?
well...
if you’re using Mueller as the yardstick, put Wilson in that basket too.

Hardly. Wilson was only cleared to play after he no longer had concussion like symptoms. The same cannot be said for Mueller.

.
Wilson’s had two this year already. If you’re going to say Mueller is susceptible because he’s now had two…
but anyway, your point only reinforces my point about not rushing mueller into playing before he is ready…unlike they did in phx.

Ok then, Wilson and Mueller are both susceptible … and the number of bone crunching hits Wilson has laid on opponents since the concussions is more, equal to or less than before?
It’s not when Mueller comes back that I’m concerned about; he should only come back when he’s absolutely ready. It’s how tentative Mueller is against the boards or how confident he is on the puck when he comes back that worries me.
Wilson has been less effective of a hitter since he came back, that is for sure. He started to get his mojo back lately, but he’s not hitting everything that moves anymore.
The Avalanche, clearly, are down with No PP.
Definitely more tentative, but that could be at the direction of the trainers too. I think he’ll be a beast again in the playoffs…

True,
and allow me to remind everyone that both Dr. Jones and Yip have pretty heavy (especially Yipper) right handed shots. Yip also was QB for the BU powerplay, so he has experience. Although they’re both pretty big and I’d like to see them plugging up the crease, it wouldn’t bother me to see either them get a turn on the point with Liles if Ferris isn’t ready.

For those wondering about TV in the other thread (which is now 4 down).
From Puck Daddy:
Now, VERSUS doesn’t have any exclusivity in the first round of the playoffs, meaning that your local cable networks are going to have coverage of these games and the VERSUS broadcast will be blacked out locally. In the second round, two games per series will be exclusive, and then everything’s exclusive on VERSUS after that.
Which should also mean Center Ice and GameCenter Live people should be able to watch the games no matter what
Colorado Avalanche: Back to the playoffs!
What about my case
The Wings are on at 10:00 Wednesday with the Avs at 10:30. Can I watch the Avs on VS while the Wings get switched over to Fox Sports Detroit?
by Avalanche318 on Apr 12, 2010 9:34 PM MDT up reply actions
Beats me. I’ll be watching stuff on GameCenter Live…I’m going to try it out tomorrow. They should black out the Versus coverage in Detroit though because FSN should take it. So I would imagine you can watch the Avs when the first matchup is over.
Colorado Avalanche: Back to the playoffs!
I'm crossing my fingers.
I also sent an e-mail to VS with the same question so hopefully I’ll get some sort of resolution.

I need to call my cable company today…but I’ll get the runaround like I did at the beginning of the season I’m sure…

Seeing as how I haven’t said this since the Olympics.
Yay, Canadian TV networks!
Half the games are on CBC, the other on TSN/ TSN 2.
Works for me.

Great news, sandiegee!
Superb! And CBC has a good hockey staff, which can not be said about some (a neighbor country that I won’t name ;-p )’s hockey networks that I have to catch on the Internet. As for NBC, well they suck for hockey and tennis, so I am not even counting them in.
As for Mueller, I am more of a “go for the human being first” kind of person, so do not rush him. I love hockey and the Avs, but there is more to life than hockey, no?
Now, for Gentleman Blake, no Avs should go after him… but if a Shark teammate roll him in the board by mistake, I am not going to cry. ;-)
.
Alors, je vais vous faire une confidence...

Am I completely blind?
Or is there no mention about Jones being ruled out for game 1 in that article?
Forever grateful that Joe Sakic isn't a douche bag like Brett Favre.
bottom part of the article, has a Jones Update portion saying that he has been ruled out by Sacco
maybe an internet pipe froze and burst

Wow. Not only am I blind, but I wasn’t even reading the right article. How did that happen?

Only problem is that Yip has looked a shadow of his former self. Whereas he used to look sharp and “connected” to the plays, he has seemed to me, to be lost and lacking commitment recently.
It's hard to be a saint in this city
He hasn’t really looked on point since his injury, but I still like his energy. Last game was more like the ‘old’ Yip.
Thanks Joe...
I think he needed time to “get back in the game.” Hopefully he’ll be in it for the playoffs…tho I also think he got engaged recently, so that might have something to do with it. Don’t hold me to that rumor tho…
