Even in his post-playing days, Brendan Shanahan is still a whiner
These are some pretty ridiculous rule change ideas for the most part. Some of them I understand, like the modified no-touch icing, but some of these ideas are totally stupid.
And Brendan Shanahan is a whiny bitch.

Red Wing = Whiny Bitch
That being said:
will display the USHL’s "hybrid" icing rule that enables on-ice officials to whistle the play dead when they determine the race to an iced puck will be won by the defensive team, precluding a dangerous collision at the end boards.
So let’s give the officials one more way to screw up. I guess it all depends on how fairly/consistently officials make the determination.
Overtime will proceed from 4-on-4 to 3-on-3 to 2-on-2 to a shootout.
3-on-3 might not be bad, but it has to end there…2-on2? seriously? Why not just pull the goalie off the ice and play with empty nets at both ends?
On delayed penalties, play won’t be whistled dead until the offending team gets the puck out of its zone.
Well the Avs are screwed since they can’t even clear the puck in normal 5-on-5 situations. Then again, if the penalty never gets called, the score doesn’t count as a PPG. Might help their average?
While I do think the whistle gets blown way too fast at times (when the offending touches the puck but doesn’t necessarily control it), this might be going too far. Then again….

The idea of the camp is actually pretty solid. The players and GMs get to see certain ideas put into action, which means more informed decisions come meeting time. I agree some ideas are dumb, but it’s not like there’s a cup on the line.
Along with the no-touch icing adjustment, I think an idea that has a lot of potential for excitement is not allowing icing on a penalty kill. My completely fact-free-and-baseless guess would be that PP% would increase by about 10%.

yeah, I’ve always been in favor of getting rid of this.
honestly, I think a lot of these ideas sound kind of interesting. cool that they are experimenting

I don’t dig the no icing on the PK, but I like the modified no-touch icing and some of the line change prohibitions. I think going 4 v 4 for 5min or 10min then 3 v 3 for another 5min or 10min would be great. It would cut down on shootouts which, while preferable to ties are pretty crappy. 2 v 2 is just ridiculous.
