Kroenke - St. Louis Rams update
This is barely Avs related but the article makes it sound like the NFL is reluctant to allow Kroenke to transfer ownership of the Avs and Nuggets. The saga continues!!

Let’s say the NFL gets all bitchy and throws the flag for ownership shenanigans on KSE. What is E. Stan going to do?
He’s in this for the big leagues, so NFL will be his choice. Will the Avs be up for sale? I’ve said it here before, but that won’t stop me from saying it again. The Avs are primed for quick sale – low salary, traditional fan support without appreciable marketing, good young core, new facilities, like-able stars. I think he’ll have buyers coming out of the woodwork.

As long as one of them isn’t a certain CEO from RIM.

Think someone will float me several hundred million as a loan? I’ve got a few thousand in net-worth as leverage…

Can we pull a “Packers” and float a quick IPO for MHH Holdings, Inc.? Sell shares in the company on the open market and take it public? Buy the Avs with the proceeds.
We’ll make millions (for someone).

Update on that....
the woman with whom my friend was supposed to talk about my job with them has been on vacation and gets back on Tuesday…so all is not lost on this lead! =) (Oh, and she is the mother of a guy he used to play with on a team at some point, so he knows her too….this may be a fruitful endeavor yet!)
I just like the fights.

I would not mind a good new owner for the Avs. But the whole be careful what you wish for thing is a worry as well. Kroenke hasn’t been great lately, but he’s still not what i’d call bad.
It’s kind of too bad Anschutz owns the Kings already — known good owner that lives in Denver, and we know he likes owning sports buildings.
Charlie Ergen, the billionaire that owns Dish, might be a more realistic option for a local owner.
Definitely not wishing for it, just looking at the situation and seeing where it may be going. I think part of the “build from within” (a.k.a., spend to the floor) strategy may have been motivated by E.Stan’s desire to complete his ownership of the Rams, and knowing that the NFL could have problems with the cross ownership. No doubt, it’s good business from that perspective.
I would definitely prefer local ownership. George Gillett, who used to own the Canadiens, lives in Vail. He already knows the secret handshakes although the track record of the MTL under his watch was less than stellar.

I’ve heard there might be a new ownership tandem of Wolski and Kovalchuk.

Hockeytown was a marketing invention to draw fans to a team that had less gate than the atlanta thrashers. Really Detroit, the only thing I'm jealous about is your marketing dept. When do they go UFA?
Man would that ever tickle my pickle.
