Glory, Glory Hallelujah! Mueller Still an Av!!
Bob McKenzie of TSN is reporting via Joe's favorite social media (Twitter) that Peter Mueller has signed a 2-year deal (SHOCKING!!!!) with Colorado with a cap hit of $2.0 million per season. The breakdown per season is $1.5 million this season, $2.5 million ini 2011-2012. Mueller's agent must be stoked...
Varying maths have Colorado hovering juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust below the salary cap floor. Essentially, if they plan to dress ANYBODY to fill out a 22 man roster, they'll be a smidgen over the cap floor.
Here's the link to the Av's official story and here's the linkage to the DP's coverage.
Tip O' the Hat to SportsDalaiLama for the initial fanpostage.

Damn, new Avs management knows how to be thrifty. Excellent cap it and length for a guy who could be awesome but could also be terrible. The off season after next is going to be interesting as hell.

I really hope that photo isn’t his reaction shot when the received news of the deal. It is way too reminiscent of a certain someone….

and really, Trailor Arnesin a “young gun”!?!?! WTF!!!!!!!!
Blasphemy!!!!!
Yeah, he was very good for us

Dear Colorado Avalanche: Thank you for the excitement, see you in October.
Now we have nothing to bitch about!
Besides marketing, ticket prices, depth at LW, ice girls…
Thanks Joe...
Looks like Dwight allowed the story to leak.

Now we’ll see which Mueller shows up for 2011. Avs’ Mueller or Coyotes’ Mueller.
"Half the game is mental; the other half is being mental." -- Jim McKenny
Avs Mueller. In Phoenix his line mate was Dan Winnik- nice guy but not big on offensive talent. On the Avs he played with Duchene and the Duke, and put up big numbers as his talent allowed.
PS- ON NO!! Now we have nothing to worry about!!

why do you think we got Winnik
Avs want to reunite that line lol
Sports don't build character, they reveal it
But what does Dan Ellis think of Mueller’s new salary?

just think, if we win the cup, we can give everyone raises instead of sending them to atlanta
Is it October yet?!

Theory
I really don’t understand why the Avs don’t fix some form of a legal deal where they consistently overpay their players for the next 2 seasons (giving them al 2 season contracts) and make them stay with the team for lower contracts for the next couple o’ seasons.
And something that’s really rather bothering me; Why would anyone call their new model Camaro “SS”? That’s just bad taste.
In Europe those initials still don’t really work out.

Because this sort of deal would be such a flagrant violation of the CBA that it would make the original Kovy Kontract look like a parking violation in comparison.

Why would anyone call their new model Camaro "SS"? That’s just bad taste.
Because it is a Super Sport model of an American muscle car. It’s been happening since the early ’60s on many cars. No reason to change it. Anything else I can help you with?

Because if the world doesn’t end they want flexibility, plus the knowledge they didn’t overpay unproven players… And oh yeah… it isn’t Europe, so SS matters not so much.

You know, it is all clear now that the Avs were simply waiting for the Kroneke/Rams shit to go down before they made any deals – or maybe they were ordered to do so by Stan so he could look good to the NFL and get approved to buy the Rams (somebody else here mentioned that theory a week or so ago).
All I know is Stan gets NFL approval, and Stewie and Mueller are signed within two weeks.

I’m even more excited about watching rookie camp next week and training camp after that…the fact that one of the prospects is pretty much sure to be kept up with the big boys and it just being a matter of whom it will be makes this all very compelling. It’s going to be a battle out there and we shall be reaping the benefits of watching it!

And Dater says he “would have had it up hours ago but he had technical difficulties” or some shit like that. Whatever, dude. The season pre-season hasn’t even begun and I’m already done with him.

Well, Dater’s “tech difficulties” are just the result of him preparing for the upcoming season, which means he was just spending hours doing “fit tests” on his feet to make sure he can put both of them in his mouth as opposed to only one last year. At least he’s trying to improve.

I was wondering how he got his ass beat on this story by a national writer. I guess neither his laptop or his cell or his landline or his car or the pay phone on the corner worked, poor guy.

I am stoked to see this guy over a full season. Could it be possible he averages a point a game? How awesome would that be?

Clearly it would be awesome
as long as the PPG thing doesn’t mean he only played in 32 games or something =/

Hey that would be more than he played last season. We may need to take baby steps here you know like they did with the salary floor.
