I was on Foxsports.com today reading an article about the Red Wings when I came across this...
"I think it's going to be tough for the other teams to match up because one of those three lines is going to have their fifth and sixth 'D' to play against so it's going to be tough for the opponent to do the matching and I think we've got three good lines that can score," Zetterberg said.
So that's when I started thinking, how do we stack up, top three lines to top three lines...
Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Holmstrom
Franzen - Filppula - Bertuzzi (douchebag)
Cleary - Modano - Hudler
Vs
Gally - Stastny - Stewart
Mueller - Duchene - Hejduk
Yip - O'Reilly - Jones
So I started thinking, how do I compare the two? At first, I started to look at stats (via Yahoo Sports, Avs - Wings). I was just going to do a simple count, our points vs theirs. Then I realized that several of our players were injured for long periods of the season and the Wings also had two or three people with the stomach flu for a day or two. Modano wasn't even on the Wings, Hudler wasn't even in this hemisphere, and Bertuzzi was/is a douchebag (Yahoo doesn't track douchebag stats). I could just expand the stats for each player based on how they were performing but then Yip scores just as many goals as Stewie and Mueller (based on his time with the Avs) scores 109. Probably not realistic. So I just thought I'd ask everyone here what they thought. So tell me, honestly, what do you think? Is our top 3 better? Worse? Equal?
