SHOCKING NEWS: The Avs attempt marketing?
I know it's weird... but I actually saw a billboard marketing the Avs. It's not great by any means, but it's a start. They're barely trying to give the franchise a face.
Sorry my photo is blurry... I took it with my cell phone while also trying to drive my car. The billboard is just east of Colfax and I-25 and has a play on the (horrible) new slogan saying, "It's all about the future."
It has Andy, Dutchy, and Radar. Still not quite what I'd like to see from the marketing team... but it's a start.

Man did they screw up
“FUTURE” doesn’t have an “A” in it. Heads will roll over this.

Ha!
I also wonder if the Avs hired the dude that did the Rockies “Generation R” marketing guy. Their slogans where similar with the whole R theme.

I’m sure they peeked over his shoulder in advertising school.

Not to worry.
I saw an “All about the A” ad on a bus shelter driving home this week. Seems the “full court press” (this is, after all, still a basketball organ-I-zation) is on!

Considering how much we have complained about the lack of marketing, I am starting to think the Avs have a spy in the MHH community.

Actually
They just never bothered to replace that from last season. Like Dippin Dots “Ice cream of the future” catchphrase.

well, that's a start
still an awful slogan, but they ARE trying to market the youth. i like that, at least.
with the 29 year old goalie being front and center? (I kid)

That’s nice to see. And the slogan isn’t that that bad. Sure it could be better, but at least they’re trying.

I've seen TV Ads that aren't during Avs games
Wasn’t paying attention til I heard an Avalanche ad during Sportscenter the other day. Also saw one during the Broncos game. Better than last year when the only time they advertised the Avs was during Avs games.
"Joe Louis Arena is the Chipotle of Jackassery" - JIbblescribbits
that slogan doesn’t inspire great confidence about the here and now.

What I really want to see them do is put Duchene HUGE on the side of a building or something.
The Nuggets had a roughly 40-50’ wide Birdman on the side of a building at like 14th and Stout downtown. I can’t stand basketball but the ad sure got my attention.

Maybe he should get a sponsorship from Target, back at X games 10 in LA target paid for a sign of Nate Adams on the side of a building, looked sweet

I wonder if the billboard cost counts against the cap?

Ads
I saw a billboard ad near sixth and Kalamath last weekend…and had to doubletake to make sure it was an Avs ad! Maybe these two billboards and couple of sportscenter ads will actually get our attendance above ten thousand!

Nice pic
A photo of an Avs billboard must be on par with a photo of Bigfoot or the Chupacabra.
Dear Colorado Avalanche: Thank you for the excitement, see you in October.
I was just thinking the same thing. Damn good photoshop job there, but the Av’s don’t do marketing, so clearly this is a photoshop job.

The Future Begins Now!
Well, at least in a couple of weeks when camp opens.
Imagine my surprise
I grab a cup of coffee, and bam!

Yes, Dazbog coffee has a trademarked phrase that’s more applicable for an NHL team than the Avs have.

Wow. That’s pretty sad.
“It’s all about the playoffs” worked alright, but the one letter “A” thing is just stupid. And whats worse is that when they say it out loud in the ads they actually just say “A.” Apparently they can’t spare the breath to say “It’s all about the Avs.” Nope, just, “It’s all about the A”

Damn DazBog!
That slogan was on the tip of the marketing teams tongues. I’m sure they were just saving it for the playoffs ;)

It Happened Again...

Found this one today at 6th and Santa Fe downtown… “It’s all about the Leadership” featuring Adam Foote, Paul Stastny, and Milan Hejduk.
Man I’m getting good at this photoshop stuff
Lappy?
Crap, this “it’s all about…” still has me confused.

I saw two bus stops within a two block radius that had the basic “It’s all about the A” with ticket info ads on them! This was near Southwest Plaza. This is getting weird…..
I just like the fights.

That makes me picture what it would be like if Pittsburgh used this slogan. “It’s all about the diving” would work nicely.

What's sad is...
that we’ve seen more advertisements about the Avs than we have actual news about the Avs this summer.

Not exactly marketing but sort of related
So I’ve been looking for a PDF or word version of this year’s schedule for quite a while now to use during our ticket draft. I haven’t been able to find one on the Av website, unlike in years past. So I emailed the general addy there and asked them if one was available. To their credit, they sent me one (in word format) right away, and also sent me a link to a story they had posted that included a link to it.
So I must have missed that story, and the link, but for the life of me, without the link they sent, I could have never found it on their web site. So I emailed them back suggesting that they also put a link to the word schedule on their schedule page, so that more people could find it. They thanked me for the suggestion and said they would consider it. Then did nothing, as far as I can tell. So, just for fun, can anyone else here find the word version of the schedule on the Avalanche website?

mouse over schedule, click downloadable schedule. http://avalanche.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=32591
I think they listened to you.
also, searching for ‘schedule’ in the search box produced: http://avalanche.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=532309 as the 6th link.
That one is some sort of deal that downloads into one of your calendars. But you did find the story with the link to the word document below. It was hard to navigate to from their website, but I did manage to find it on the 2nd page of news.

Saw 2 All about the A commercials during the Rockies game last night on FSN. I only watched a couple of innings while we were at the bar. There may have been more.
