OK, I really don't get this
Are the Eagles already affiliated? Because if they aren’t, wouldn’t the 40 minute drive from Loveland be much more convenient in the not-so-unlikely event that Jones, Mueller, and Hejduk all get injured on gameday and we can’t get guys in from Lake Erie in Erie? It would be even more convenient than the Sky Sox in CO Springs being the Rox’ AAA team.

Though by reading the Eagles’ website and this story, that affiliation appears to be “informal”. Whatever that means.
Colorado Avalanche Offseason Strategy - Please wake us in October
The Eagles used to have an informal affiliation with the Avs. Tyler Weiman spent time in Loveland with the Eagles while property of the Avalanche.

Just a guess, but I would assume that it means they are affiliated with the club’s AHL team first, then the NHL team.
There's a place out west where the Powder River rolls off the Bighorn Mountains. It's a land of red walls, blue sky, and clean air, where the eagle glides high above the canyons and makes its nest in the rocks that overlook the valleys where the sagebrush and cottonwoods grow. This is ranch country - has been for more than a hundred years.
Well things have changed some since the early days, but there's still a thread of character and tradition that runs true from one generation to the next. You can see it in the way folks out here set a horse; you can hear it in the way they talk. And when the work's all done, there's nothing they like better than to get together at the one room schoolhouse under the red wall for another down home, homegrown, Western Saturday night.
i was thinking the same thing.

How many avs prospects play in the chl and as a follow up question do they have a chance at the nhl?

Well like thedoctor said, Weiman spent some time with the Eagles. But the CHL is pretty much the little brother of the NHL. If a player goes there, that’s where he spends his career.
But I will say, going to Eagles games in Loveland was a lifesaver during the lockout.

the Avs have been ECHL affiliated for awhile now
but they did work with Arizona back in the day. Over the past few seasons, the Avs have had players like Macias, Vernace, Mcleod, and a few other prospects spend time outside of the AHL (between the CHL/ECHL). Brunette even spent time at one point in the ECHL so playing in the CHL (possibly due to needing more ice time) does not doom anyone as a bust/career minor leaguer. I know Montreal is/was so deep with solid prospects that a lot of their prospects play/played for Cincinnati (who has won 2 of the last 3 ECHL Cups) so depth can create a need for an ECHL/CHL partnership.
