Avalanche Cut 5 Players
The Avalanche today announced that five more players have been trimmed from the team, reducing the roster to 29 players. We're that much closer to seeing the Avs' opening night roster, as the team is just 6 cuts away from getting down to 23...but with Peter Mueller, David Koci and Kyle Cumiskey currently injured, there could be as few as three cuts remaining.
The goaltending situation was never in question, and the Avalanche have finalized this spot by sending both John Grahame and Jason Bacashihua to Lake Erie (Trevor Cann was sent to LEM last week). With that, Craig Anderson and Peter Budaj are the only goalies left on the roster.
The picture at defense got a little clearer as well, as Cameron Gaunce was reassigned to Lake Erie and Stefan Elliot was returned to his WHL team. The Avalanche have 9 defensemen remaining on their roster. If Cumiskey is on the IR at the start of the season, it's possible that all 9 will start the season with the cub, but I suspect there will be one more cut here, probably between Jonas Holos and Colby Cohen.
Luke Walker was the only forward reassigned today (may the force be with you, Luke). The Avalanche still have 18 forwards in camp, 16 if you don't count Koci and Mueller. We covered this battle on Friday and it looks like there's still some room to evaluate the remaining players. The Avalanche host the Blues tonight and it will be interesting to see how many of the bubble players will be in the lineup.

Pretty sure that it was discussed in another thread. But, isn’t Philippe Dupuis waiver eligible? I wonder what that means for his chances on the roster.

he is, but I can’t see there being a big risk of losing him

It was expected
Cohen may make the team just because of his shot

He probably used the Force to convince Sherman not to send him to Portland.

I am slightly ashamed to say I’ve only seen four of these movies.

Technically if you count the two Ewok spin offs there are 8. But then you could count the animated stuff and the number increases more….

I did watch an Ewok movie
My ex was a huge Star Wars fan. We ended up naming our hamster Wicket after an Ewok.

I'm sure you realized
that I was being a smartass. Was there a live action ewok movie? I slightly recall some animated spin-offs. I was too busy with MOTU, Transformers, GIJoe, TMNT to be bothered with Star Wars spin-offs

I am not ashamed to admit that I am a huge Star Wars fan. I watch all 6 at least once a year, and the originals, I’ll watch a couple of times.
There's a place out west where the Powder River rolls off the Bighorn Mountains. It's a land of red walls, blue sky, and clean air, where the eagle glides high above the canyons and makes its nest in the rocks that overlook the valleys where the sagebrush and cottonwoods grow. This is ranch country - has been for more than a hundred years.
Well things have changed some since the early days, but there's still a thread of character and tradition that runs true from one generation to the next. You can see it in the way folks out here set a horse; you can hear it in the way they talk. And when the work's all done, there's nothing they like better than to get together at the one room schoolhouse under the red wall for another down home, homegrown, Western Saturday night.
I don't know if it counts for anything
but I own all 6?

I was once attacked by a black man wielding a light saber in a Borders book store. My friend was thwarting my attack plan of hitting on a couple girls. We both got asked to leave the store. I think yelling “Die Jedi scum!” might have been overkill on my part.
Now we have nothing to bitch about!

FYI
That would be “a mi también”

Really?
I don’t know how to do the fancy letters. Guess I’ve never heard anything other than “yo tambien”. Live and learn.

Yo también would translate as “I also”
a mi también is “me also” or “me too” This one is better grammatically.

Too bad about Gaunce and Elliot. I was hoping to get to watch them for the first time tonight. I’m more bummed about Elliot though, because he’s gone for the season. At least Gaunce only went to LEM.
