Hello my fellow Avalanche fans, 

I write over at the SB Nation site Denver Stiffs.com - as some/many/all of you may know the lockout is giving us basketball heads some more time on our hands. I'd like to fill that time by watching more AVS games, now that I'm able. I will admit, the hot start is great to see and I think being a Nuggets fan I can appreciate what this young team is trying to do. 

What I'd like to know is what are your thoughts on the team? I am turning to this site to educate myself, but any talk would help as well. I was reading up on Semyon Varlamov yesterday, how he was acquired and expectations, and thinking how great it is to have the young kid starting with such a proven veteran behind him (who is able to teach him many tricks of the trade.) 

Who are the guys I should be keeping my eye on and how have expectations changed since the beginning of the season ... I know it's still early - but the buzz is undeniable. 

If any of you are interested, we talk AVS on our podcast this week - Colorado Sports Guys (free on iTunes too) and we might be a little ignorant for now, but Ross and I are trying to get acquainted with this team.

The fear that I have for the Nuggets is that Kroenke and Company might just do to the basketball squad what they appeared to do to the AVS ... go cheap with young guys. But at some point you have to tear down the current blueprint and rebuild from scratch right?
