Foppa Night Mile High Hockey Style
Okay. After much whining inquiring, the pre-Opening Night/Forsberg Retirement Ceremony/Red Wings Suck Ass game details have been set.
Before we toast Peter Forsberg and welcome the new season, come on over for some eats and drinks with your fellow MHHers. We are joining forces with the Avalanche Guild and Burgundy Brigade this year for our pregame celebrations, so there should be a lot of us. In fact, there may be more peeps than seats, so earlier is better. We will be upstairs at Brooklyn's.

SCHEDULE: |
For those who don't know, Brooklyn's is a traditional pregame spot for Avs fans. It's located right next to the Pepsi Center. Web site: http://www.brooklynsrestaurants.com/. Map:

I’ll go ahead and say yes. And thank you. Hoping I can make it in time to meet some folks. I suppose there’s always after, too.

I like how the Avs are lined up in the Pepsi Center and the Nuggets in the parking lot. Fitting.

Anyone know what is to become of Braun’s? I am sad it closed.

Rephrase: Anyone know what is to become of the old Braun’s building? It’s proximity to Pepsi Center and downstairs “Penalty Box” bar being closed make me sad.

If I had the money or the investors, I’d open a bar/restaurant there that would ROCK. Alas, I do not, so I won’t.

I’m right there with you. This is just a great location with the pepsi center and the colleges right there

This piece from Westword says the Pepsi Center was going to hang on to it:
As for that building, the Pepsi Center is reportedly going to hang onto the space, and just open it up on game days, when Aramark will run the bar/restaurant much as it does the Blue Sky Grill that’s actually inside the Pepsi Center.
Didn’t know the Pepsi Center owns that building. The story also says the Pepsi Center owns the Brooklyn’s building, which I also didn’t know.
But we were at the preseason game against the Blues, and the place looked boarded up.

So KSE does own it.

So, I just talked to my fiance who used to work closely with Brauns’ management for her college’s watch parties. I guess the Pepsi Center refused to renegotiate Brauns’ lease, which forced them to move out.
We’ll see if the same thing happens to Brooklyn’s when its lease is up.

My guess….
Bulldoze them for parking lots. More revenue, low overhead.

My acommidations for the weekend fell through at the last minute so I am needing a hotel any recommendations. Something nice but not breaking the bank. If I remember right doesn’t AJ work at a hotel?

Pictures
There better be pictures from the before and after parties. Those who cannot attend wish to live vicariously through those who can.
Also, DirecTV subscribers: DirecTV is offering a free trial of Center Ice starting tonight. I think it’s channels 769-785.
(I wonder if I’ll get paid for that)
In Sherman we trust
They’ve had it for years. I used it when I lived in CA. I miss both very, very much. Damn Comcast and northern facing apartment buildings.

Dish has it as well.
Datsyuk may have done it first, but he learned it from Peter Forsberg.
Thanks for everything Foppa!

Dish rant on
I’m still with them, but with you all as my witness, if they start pulling that JIP crap on the HD feeds of their local Av broadcasts again this season, I’ll be back to DirecTV quicker than you can say Red Wings Suck. The first test is Saturday night. I’m almost 100% sure they won’t have the Foppa thing in HD. But if that I turn on my DVR and see that confounded “Check back soon to see if your favorite team is playing in HD” screen, my head will asplode.

Only for big events
like Sakic Night two years ago, then later a Red Wings Suck Night when a bunch of us got tickets to the same game and hung out, and last year the MHH vs. Avs Guild pre-game game produced plenty of folks chillin together. Several of us go to a lot of the games and have run into each other a few times, especially when you’re creatures of habit and frequent the same places at the same times.

Not every home game, but generally for two or three big games in the season. Opening night and closing night for sure. In the past, there’s also been one for the Wings game. I’m going to try to get more going this season, especially now that we’re hooked up with The Avs Guild. There will be one before the Oct 30 Kings game because that’s the night the Avs Guild and MHH will face off center ice at the Pepsi Center in the annual After Hours hockey game. After the game, we’ll gather for pregame drinks and boasting.

I think my brother and I, and maybe a friend who mostly lurks here, are meeting somewhere else earlier. But hopefully we’ll still have time to drop by, say hi, and have a beer.

My brother and I will surely be wearing Forsberg jerseys. Like probably about 40% of the Can that night? And anyone wearing the winged wheel shouldn’t be allowed in.

Slightly OT - Lokomotiv bracelets
David Backes of the Blues tweeted news and a pic that the bracelets will be available for their home opener. No idea if the Avs are participating (they should be, of course). Keep your eyes open.
I don’t know where you live, but I’m guessing it’s a looooong way.
My question – not really a question, more of a “man, this is gonna be strange:” I have no idea what any of you look like. Hell, I don’t even know whether half of you are men or women. My wife and I are going to, what, roll on up there and wait for someone to say “Which one are you, asshole?” Oh, I know! You can spot me because I’ll be the guy wearing the Forsberg jersey.
Anyone else sitting in section 146?
Carry a photo of this guy upstairs and waive it around. People will tell you where to go.

For some inexplicable reason, people always know it’s me. Of course, I have gone from blonde to auburn, so that trend might not fly anymore. I’ll be in a Foppa original 3rd, most likely in a black hat and pigtails or braids.

I’m taking off my shoes, starting a fight and singing Eddie Money’s “Take me Home tonight” the whole way? But seriously, thanks for the offer. I don’t plan to lose my ninja reflexes around that many Red Wing fans. I will moderate my intake……. maybe.
I'll keep this brief.
Why did I put a question mark there?
Because I’m Dario?
Stay classy Mile High Hockey.
