A story on ex-Avs Philippe Dupuis.
"Rimouski had Sidney Crosby and Marc-André Pouliot, and we had Philippe Dupuis and Brent Aubin [in 2004-05]," Huskies head coach Andre Tourigny said. "Philippe was a brilliant scorer. He scored many clutch goals for — and against — us during those years."
And now Dupuis cannot seem to be able to find the net without the help of GPS.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have the top two goal-scorers in the National Hockey League. They are averaging 3.18 goals per game. Their last two wins were by 7-1 margins. But Dupuis has not yet joined the offence.
A story on another former Avalanche player, David Aebischer.
To find David Aebischer’s stats in the National Hockey League’s 2012 Guide and Record Book, you have to flip all the way to the back pages, to the listing ‘Retired NHL goaltender index.’
We can tell you Aebischer is definitely not retired. He was last seen skating this week in practice with the St. John’s IceCaps, but as for playing, well, it’s easy to see why some people might think Aebischer has hung up the goalie pads.
The OHL is taking hits to the head seriously with yet another suspension.
Mississauga St. Michael's Majors forward Joseph Cramarossa was given a 10-game suspension by the Ontario Hockey League on Thursday.
Cramarossa delivered a check to the head of Sudbury Wolves forward Andrey Kuchin during a game last Friday. Cramarossa was given a five-minute major penalty and game misconduct on the play.
Alberta premier is in a bit of hot water for saying that the she believed money was being "squandered" on the hockey arena.
Edmonton city council has committed more than $300 million toward a cost-shared rink with the Oilers, and may have to use another $100 million in provincial infrastructure money to cover a cost shortfall.

Dater says Mueller and Johnson didn’t practice; Mueller for groin reasons, not head reasons.
At exactly what point do you start to realize that life without knowledge is death in disguise?
Two players with groin injuries from the bag skate. Edge out for the Oiler game.
This kind of pisses me off. The only real man-games lost to injury this year are from the coach bag skating the team. And why the hell was Mueller out there? This is the last thing he needs.

Mueller has been skating with the team trying to get back. If he’s going to get back, he has to practice WITH the team.
And who says the groin injury was due to the bag skate?
Datsyuk may have done it first, but he learned it from Peter Forsberg.
Thanks for everything Foppa!

This.
Thought food: if Joe Sacco is fired, Sylvain Lefebvre will be the Avs' new head coach. Think about it.

I was wondering the same thing, but then I realized that earl’s not one of the shrieking brigade and that he actually knows what he’s talking about, so I held off on a reply until I poked around a bit.
No direct confirmation about the bag skate being responsible, but Dater’s piece did mention that Mueller hasn’t skated for 3 days (25th, 24th, 23rd), and the bag skate was on the 21st…so it might be the case. But I agree with Americanario – Mueller’s got to skate to get back. The bag skate portion of practice was only 8 minutes long. So I’m not sure either way.
Dater said Duchene is back on Stastny’s wing, and that Landeskog is back with O’Reilly and Winnik. I think Duchene with Stats makes us too easy to play against, but I agree with putting Landeskog back with O’Reilly.
Would Mueller have had to bag skate even though he didn’t play?
Paul Stastny did, what Paul Stastny does. Score big goals.
Good, logical question. My guess is yes, although I don’t have any way of knowing for sure. Doesn’t seem fair, but then again, all for one and one for all.
Dater tweeted that the groin injuries happened during the bag skate. Yeah, yeah, check the messenger and all that, but logically it follows that it happened during that same practice at least.
I’m not advocating getting rid of Sacco, but events like this puts doubt and perhaps even resentment in the heads of the guys. The only thing Sacco can do to force management to get rid of him is to lose the room. Getting a star player injured during a punishment exercise can be seen, at least from the outside, as a step towards that. Who knows, maybe the team is ok with it, maybe EJ is ok with it. We can’t really know one way or the other.

Especially since there was no real reason for the bag skate. The Avs had played fairly well in the game before (Pitt? I can’t remember, and I’m too freaking pessimistic right now to look it up), but just lost. Now, had they had the bag skate after the Vancouver game, well, there’d certainly have been reason for it.
Quite honestly, I think the bag skate may have led to the loss against the Nucks. The Avs looked tired during that game.
I understand why he did it – he’s trying anything he can think of to get this team to win. They had a fun skate before Minnesota. They lost. They had a hard skate before Vancouver. They lost. He’s running out of options, and now our top defensemen is injured.
Just a Colorado girl in Montana who ♥s the Avs.

Re: Dupuis
Were he still an Av, this would surely be on Sacco.

Its every individual falling short
