The video shows a really cringe inducing freeze frame of the moment of impact. All said, I still think it was a poorly executed shoulder check that Porter was out of position on. Before the Shanahammer was brought down with great vengeance and furious anger, he mentioned that Porter's completely clean career was taken into account. Four games for an unintentional knee is leniency. Yeesh.

I'm okay with this.

I’m not okay with Maxi-pad Lapierre getting off scott free. Also, I LOVE that Shanny explains his decisions.

Yeah, I was disturbed at how much I was liking Shanny in his new role. Least now with the Lapierre not-even-a-consideration I have some reason to be pissed at Shanny, as is right and natural.

And yet Leino gets one game. Look at the other suspension in the last few weeks, all are 2 or 3 games.

Datsyuk may have done it first, but he learned it from Peter Forsberg.

I guess it’s not too surprising that he got suspended, he definitely left the knee out even if it was inadvertant. I thought it would be 2 games though, 4 seems a bit harsh. Shanny must have been on an adrenaline high from making all of those videos.

I haven’t gone back and looked because I am computerless outside of work but was contact made to the back of Wilson’s head or was he just driven from behind? At first glance i actually thought it looked innocuous but people who have seen replays seem to disagree. Hopefully Wilson is back on the ice soon.

I've seen replays

and I still think it looks like Lapierre being a 4th line plug and finishing his check. He doesn’t contact any head and Wilson doesn’t fall into the boards. His face hits the glass, he bounces back, he skates to the bench, bye bye hip checks for the next week :(

Because the league made a point this year: If a guy can’t see you coming in for a hit, don’t hit him. That’s the rule. Wilson didn’t turn at the last minute. Maxim had plenty of time to not hit him. According to the rule, Wilson had a right to expect that he wouldn’t be hit.
