in the NHL, besides the Wings, of course, has now become whichever team currently employs the goaltending services of Craig Anderson. Currently that would be Ottawa. And it really has nothing to do with anyone on the team except for Andy.
Take a look at this latest dig against the Avs in Andy's comments after the Sens 5 to 1 win over the Panthers:
"When I came in here the room was great, it was very positive," Anderson said. "Guys didn't get down on themselves or their teammates, from what I could see right when I came in. You would never have known that they were on a losing streak."
(excerpted from CBS game recap of Feb 23, 2011)
Ottawa was one of my favorite eastern teams. But now I can't help but hope they get lit up big time by Buffalo tonight. And by whoever they play every night as long as Andy mans the crease.
On a positive note, his inspired play down the stretch would eliminate the Sens from the draft lottery....
On a related note, Andy's comments may point to a severe lack of veteran and/or coaching leadership in the locker room. Sacco may be just as much a problem as was Andy.
