Today is deadline day. Usually, this is a day of excitement for Avalanche fans as we're either watching to see which missing piece gets added to the roster or, as in the case of two seasons ago, we're anxious to see dead weight jettisoned.

This year, there's not a lot of players that we'd like to see moved and Greg Sherman surely isn't adding any rentals for the stretch run (as of today, the most points the Avs can get to is 97; literally, they'd need to win every remaining game to have a shot at the playoffs).

So, will any beloved players get moved? John-Michael Liles is the most rumored player to go. It's been stated that Milan Hejduk, Paul Stastny and Adam Foote are staying put, but we can't count anything out until that 3pm eastern deadline. Other players that have been bandied about (mostly by us): Peter Budaj, Ryan O'Reilly, Cody McLeod, Ryan Wilson, Philippe Dupuis, Brandon Yip, TJ Galiardi...heck, pretty much everyone. So, strap in. Fire up TSN's trade tracker and the twitter feeds of Dater and Dreger and go crazy.

[1:30PM]The Avalanche have traded LEM D Kevin Montgomery for OKC D Shawn Belle. Belle is a former 1st round pick of the Blues (I hear we love those), but this appears to be more of a juggle of depth players by both teams.
