As we all know getting great players is important but getting great players in big games is better. After all would you rather have a Joe Sakic who elevates to super stardom in playoffs or Arny who turns into a wild man when he plays Edmonton and turns into a sloth all the other games. So this is a look at some of the top Junior players in this years draft in the playoffs.
Ryan Nugent Hopkins C Red Deer Rebels WHL- 4G 7A 4 PIM in 9 games (Eliminated in the second round. Only scored 2 Assists in the five game second round)
Gabriel Landeskog RW Kitchner Rangers OHL- 6G 4A 4 PIM in 7 games (Eliminated in the first round, but played studly)
Sean Couturier LW Drummondville Voltigeurs QMJHL-5G 4A 10 PIM in 10 Games (eliminated in the second round)
Jonathan Huberdeau C Saint Johns Sea Dogs QMJHL-10G 11A 10 PIM in 9 Games (Starting the third round)
Ryan Storme C Niagra IceDogs OHL- 6G 4A 10 PIM in 9 Games (Starting the third round)
Dougie Hamilton D Niagra IceDogs OHL-3G 11A 6 PIM in 9 Games (Starting the third round)
Duncan Siemens D Saskatoon Blades WHL- 1G 3A 13 PIM in 10 games (Eliminated in the second round)
Ryan Murphy D Kitchner Rangers OHL- 2G 9A 8 PIM in 7 games (Eliminated in the first round. That is some amazing numbers for a D-man)
Nathan Beaulieu D Saint John Sea Dogs QMJHL-1G 10A 18 PIM in 9 Games (Starting the third round)
Sven Bartschi LW Portland Winterhawks WHL- 3G 11A 8 PIM in 9 games (Team is up 3-2 in second round)
So as far as clutch players I really like Landeskog, but I have a total man crush on Huberdeau.
