Looking at #11

There's been a lot of talk about where the Avs would go with the 2nd overall pick, but much less focus on the 11th. I started looking at multiple recent mock drafts to see the players that might be still available at that pick and where the Avs might go with it. I assumed that players selected in the mocks between 8th and 14th are the most likely to represent both availability and Pracey's view of BPA.

THN has 8-14 as:

8. Sven Bartschi
9. Ryan Murphy
10. Mika Zibanejad
11. Oscar Klefbom
12. Duncan Siemens
13. Zack Phillips
14. Nathan Beaulieu

TSN shows 8-14 as:

8. Ryan Murphy
9. Jonas Brodin
10. Sven Bartschi
11. Mika Zibanejad
12. Nathan Beaulieu
13. Zack Phillips
14. Mark Scheifele

Redline lists 8-14 as:

8. Ryan Murphy
9. Nathan Beaulieu
10. Sean Couturier
11. Oscar Klefbom
12. Nicklas Jensen
13. Mark Scheifele
14. Joel Armia

From this limited sample, there's a broad selection of talent still available. The only players to appear in this range on all three mocks are Ryan Murphy and Nathan Beaulieu. Murphy looks to be gone by 9 in all three. Beaulieu could still be floating around.

Sven Bartschi, Mika Zibanejad, Oscar Klefbom, Zack Phillips, and Mark Scheifele appear in 2 lists. Oscar Klefbom is listed as going 11th in the two drafts in which he appears in this range.

There are outliers coming in from above (Sean Couturier) and below (Jonas Brodin, Nicklas Jensen, Joel Armia, Duncan Siemens). Either these guys will not be around, or will not likely represent the Best Player Available.

The consensus has Scheifele and Philips going after the Avs pick. Assuming Pracey stays "on the board" my "in depth" analysis suggests that the Avs are likely to pick from among Beaulieu, Bartschi, Zibanejad, and Klefbom.

Could be worse.
