Avs to re-sign Kevin Porter
I was at DIA flying home after visiting family and seeing Dispatch at Red Rocks. At the concourse train I ran into Kevin Porter. I asked him if was going to be re-signed by the Avalanche and he said that he was hopeful that it was going to happen within the next couple of weeks. It was kind of an interesting encounter and he was a little awkward.... but at least we have some light shed on the fact that he will back in an Avalanche unipron next season.

Something may not be coming across in your post, but it kind of sounded like it wasn’t confirmed? To say that he was hopeful to be signed in the next few weeks didn’t really sound like it was definite.

Well, if he's hopeful it'll happen in the next couple weeks, it must mean they're at least talking, right?

Sounds more like they are almost done talking and ready to ink a contract. He wouldn’t see a 2 week timeframe unless the conversation was already well underway.
Draft Larsson and McNeil + Sign Bryzgalov = Kick ass.

I have no beef with Porter. If he could only work on his finishing, he’d be a pretty decent pickup for a “throw-in.”

I, on the other hand, find porter to be a very pleasant pairing with beef. Though if you happen to be Hindu, I suppose it’s out of the question.

Maybe we can get him for 2 or 3 million. Cap floor here we come!

lololol
Anything more than $1.3 would be stretching it imo

Porter is a fine bottom 6er. I’m ok with him being back — but just like in our defense, he’s a smaller guy and you don’t want too many of those. Porter and potentially Olver fill up our quota in the bottom 6.

Porter is a doughnut
You know, that little tire that you have in your trunk?
Nobody wins the Indy 500 on these things, and you certainly won’t be in a race using one, but every car now and then needs a spare to get them to the finish line. When our Michelins and Bridgestones go down, we can always count on our precious little doughnut to help get us home, ready and able to draft a new tire for our next trip.

I guess I'll be the second person to point this out
This tale communicates three things… that the OP ran into Kevin Porter on the DIA train, that Porter was not comfortable talking to the OP, and that Porter told the OP he was hopeful of being resigned. None of these three things combined or on their own in any way translates to “Avs to re-sign Kevin Porter”. But I’m glad the OP got to meet Kevin Porter and creep him out.
Creeping out Avalanche players sounds like fun. Hopefully I’ll get to do it one day.

Looking into Landy's sister qualifies ;)
Well on your way, stalker.

Reced for Jibblekopf goodness and the fact that someone was being mean and calling you creepy when you were just providing info we wouldn’t have otherwise known.

Oh come on now
You don’t need to be creepy to creep someone out. Perhaps young Mr. Porter is particularly and peculiarly inclined to being creeped out by strangers on a train. Now if you actually think this anecdote sheds light on the career situation of young Mr. Porter, wait til you hear what I heard on the light rail the other day…
I heard that someone who knows a guy who slept with a girl who once saw Duchene’s agent drive by in a Cadillac that Dutchy is going to ask for 7 million a season for 10 years when his ELC runs out.
October. When?
You know what? I bet the Avs might still make that deal, and throw in a NTC to go with it.
Matt’s going to be a very rich boy soon if he keeps playing like he has been. And he’s not going to leave the Avs any time soon.

7 million is too much.
He isn’t that elite of a talent.

5.5 is where I have him
but with the cap continuing to increase, the burden of 6 becomes easier to swallow.

Took me a minute, but I got the joke. Very nice.
I mean, the Avs have to get to the floor somehow, right?

Maybe he’ll try to match Patrick Kane? That’s 6.3 Million. Probably just under that.

Maybe… I’m not trying to ruffle any feathers. Just stating I think the thread title is not accurate in a jocular manner.

That restraining order Liles got on me last year was such bullshit! Just because I was following him around after he left practice…I just wanted to find out where he lived so I could mail him a birthday present. Sheesh.

Speaking of Avs players who can’t finish being re-signed. Hensick was re-signed by St. Louis to a 2 way deal.
