Everyone knows that the Varlamov acquisition was a risky move by the Avalanche. What level of risk the move happens to be is pretty much up to you. But the only thing that matters RIGHT NOW is what steps the Avalanche, and Varlamov, can take to manage that risk.
With that in mind, I went really in-depth on four different steps (two by the Avs, two by Varly) both sides can take to make Varly's path to reach his potential a smooth ride.
The four steps that are hopefully taken between now and October:
1. Avs get Varly a full-time goalie coach
2. Avs get Varly a vision and Pilates trainer
3. Varly learns to manage his energy levels
4. Varly learns to trust in his defensemen
I go pretty in-depth on each of these topics, especially the first two. I think most of you know that I will continue to scream bloody murder about a lack of a full-time goalie coach until one is employed. It simply can't go on any longer, and I will harvest a little bit of hope that at least 3 of these 4 steps are taken...and taken as soon as possible.
Enjoy and hope everyone is enjoying the summer!
