Since nothing much is happening these days in Avalanche world, I saw this question on a website and I thought it might be good for a discussion (my apologies if this thread is in the wrong location).
Which Avalanche player departure stung the most for you?
Was it Lappy when the Avs didn't re-sign him? Was it Drury when we traded him to Calgary? Or was it Arnason when the Avs magically discovered he wasn't a first line player?
The player(s) departure(s) that stung the most for me was definately a two-way tie. Footer and Forsberg leaving that one summer was one of them. I was in Prince Edward Island on vacation when I casually glanced at the T.V. one morning and saw Forsberg's face beside the Flyers logo. My heart sank, and I felt like I was gonna throw up. Then they announced Footer took some big contract to play for none other than the damn Blue Jackets which led me to throw my hands up and yell, "for f*cks sakes!"
The second was when Roy retired. I was majorly bummed when he announced he was finished playing, and I was bummed even more (thats two bum's) with the way he left, when the Wild scored that goal to knock the Avs out of the playoffs (and complete their stupid little comeback). I'm an Avalanche fan to this day because of Roy, and I owe it to him for getting me hooked on this kick ass team.
Anyway, just thought this would be good for a larf.
