Terry Frei leaving Avalanche beat

It was kind of a low-key announcement (way to bury the lead, AD!) so in case you missed it, Terry Frei will no longer be on the Avalanche beat for the Denver Post. He'll be staying with the Post and, as I understand it, focusing more on bigger features. Adrian Dater and Mike Chambers will be splitting beat duty for your Colorado Avalanche. No truth to the rumor that he made this move to avoid having to take part in the roundtable again this year.
This is the point in the article where I write a nice summation of Frei's coverage of the Avalanche, but I think Dater did a pretty good job. So, read his article. And don't forget to tip your waitress.

Me? I’m still here, for better or worse, Avs fans. I promise to work harder this year than ever – as much as my wobbly back, horrible right foot and tragicomic sleep dysfunctions allow.
I have a hard time thinking this is coincidentally said closely after the recent debate here about what his future should be.
