The Avs personnel department has finally found a goal tender who knows how to compete named Varlamov.
With Andy jumping ship last season it pretty much ended any hope of a return to the playoffs. Varlamov
gives us hope that the Avs defense can be improved enough for the team to make the playoffs. His GAA was
2.23 last year for the Capitals.
Varlamov is used to playing around winners like Ovechikin and is used to constant pressure that being on
playoff contender brings.
If you watched the Stanley cup finals Tim Thomas showed that great goal tending beat even the likes of the Sedin
twins in Vancouver.
I really don't know if Varlamov will be as good as Roy or Andy--but the Avs have to try something.
The Avs need to get back in the playoffs to salvage team pride, and to be the Avs.
