NHL Rule Changes

I remember before last season, reading an article on NHL.com about testing certain rule changes in some type of camp.  Has anyone heard about their research/results this year?

There are two rule changes that I am absolutely in favor of...

1.  Change icing to a hybrid-icing.  This is basically a combination of no touch icing and touch icing.  I believe this is how it goes.  If team A ices the puck and team B player reaches their defensive blue line before team A player does, then the whistle will be blown, and icing is called.  If both players from team A and B reach the blue line together, they race it out and it becomes touch icing.  Tthis also happens if the team A player is ahead of the team B player.

I honestly feel this may cut down on some injuries and dangerous players that happen during the race to touch the puck for icing.  How many times do you see a player either hit another player after the whistle is blown for icing because they cannot stop or they lose an edge (or are nudged) and go flying into the boards like so http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRwAyABEVBE  I think this is one of the few things one can do to make the game safer, without making it less exciting (for example if we implemented two line passes again, it'd probably be much less exciting).

Those of you who are fans of Don Cherry, here is coach's Corner surrounding the aforementioned play.  Hey may be a little ridiculous and very enthusiastic, but he gets his point across, and I think it's a strong one.  They even mention the one Czech player who died during icing.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8NAVK-DyqA

2.  I remember reading last year about inserting a yellow line in the goal, behind the goal line.  This line would be, if memory serves me right, exactly 3 inches behind the red line, which is the exact length of the puck.  This would help video review when the part of the puck touching the red line cannot be seen.  This way, any puck that touches the yellow line, would be conclusively a goal.  I just think this helps video review and really has no effect on how great the game of hockey actually is.

So has anyone else read about any progress of any possible near rule changes for the NHL and how to you feel about these two rules possibly being implemented?
