Daily Cupcakes- September 16th, 2011

Starting off the cupcakes with some information. There are four spots no spots left in the head to head Yahoo league and twelve rotisserie style. I'm not sure how many are left in the ESPN one, but I believe there are still spots. Again, if you want in on the Yahoo one e-mail me (link of the e-mail is at the bottom of the page, next to my picture).

Mike is still waiting for your awesome-sauce-filled MHH logos. Contest ends on September 19th. There are some pretty cool prizes to be won, including bragging rights.

The Dallas Stars filed for bankruptcy Thursday and will reportedly sell the club at an auction.

In response to the Stars' court filing, NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly released the following statement Thursday evening: "Today's filing culminates months of cooperative effort by the League, the Club, the Club's lenders and Dallas Arena LLC. It represents an extremely positive step toward what we expect will be an orderly transition to new ownership for the Dallas Stars."

The Montreal Gazette looks at the differences between training camp now and training camp 30 years ago.

But it’s with the specialization of training where one can see the biggest evolution of NHL training camps.

"Today the emphasis would be on development where yesteryear the main purpose was to get players in shape and prepared for the regular season," said Chicago Wolves head coach Craig MacTavish, who was behind the Canucks’ prospects’ bench all week. "It’s just a lot more sophisticated than in the past and I think the results are that much better because of it."

A look at the contestant on the season's Battle of the Blades. They talk about each player, this is an excerpt about Curtis Leschyshyn

Known as an unassuming teammate but deeply competitive and loyal, his career high was winning the Stanley Cup with Colorado and being the second team member to hold the cup, which was passed to him by Captain Joe Sakic.
Close friend and former Battle of the Blades alumnus Kelly Chase, encouraged Curtis to join the show this season.
