The story
David about the design:
It’s so fun to be Semyon Varlamov’s painter. And this Colorado design we created together is just what it is named… Action in the Rocky Mountains! Semyon wanted something action packed with a lot of cool details, and something different… I started to do some sketches…and these dudes started to come to life in my sketches… So why not a cool war between Yeti dudes and Frosty dudes?!
The mask is hit by a snowball right in the middle of the face, and after that it’s action all over the mask! Watch out…these characters are some pretty hi tech dudes…not only do they throw snowballs… No, this Yeti he has a Snowball bazooka…and of course, Frosty he has a carrot bazooka…
As you can see I had a lot of fun creating this design for Semyon with a sweet mix of Rocky Mountains and Russia, a lot and a lot of cool details. For example one of the mountain tops are transformed into one of the tops of the Vasilij Cathedral, and you also find a cool russian jet flying there, and much much more…!

The detail and sheer amount of things crammed into that relatively small space is ridiculously impressive!
There’s no snowman face below the snowball bazooka is there? Like, maybe I’m not seeing it, but there’s no face to counter the yeti face below the carrot bazooka, right?
I'm such a huge fan of the Avs I can name who our goalie was FOUR seasons ago! Crazy, right?!
I'd say the only downside
is the “snowball hitting the middle of the mask” looks more like “just finished jacking off an elephant”.
A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day.

Don't be gross.
Besides elephants have larger loads. That looks more like a walrus load.
I love it

That was a common complaint about his Winter Classic mask by this same guy. Looks like he reused that part, apparently no one told the artist or Varly that.
Winter classic mask:

The story
David about the design:
It was much fun to create this action-filled Winter Classic mask for Semyon Varlamov of the Washington Capitals. Varlamov has been hit by a cartoony looking snowball, right in the face, the cartoony snow goes all over the mask with cool 3-D effects… A perfect Winter Classic theme, the cartoony strong contrasts makes it perfectly visible from a long distance.
Around this I weaved a design with elements from the Winter Classic game jersey with lots of details and effects.
Perhaps the white splatter is just something Varlamov really likes…
Mile High Hockey: A lot more fun to watch than the Avalanche.
As soon as I read
Commando Yeti (when the link popped up) I instantly thought….. DUH!!!! Yeti don’t wear underwear… they’re ALWAYS commando

On the Snowman side of the mask...
What is the mythical beast just below the snowman? I thought I was a yeti but it’s not. There’s stars and a night sky by it. Whatever it is, it’s really awesome.

Dater has posted a few pics as well, but they are a bit blurry. Dater was thinking the snowman was a Swedish thing, but I don’t think so, the artist called him Frosty. Plus I asked my Swedish friend and neither her or her boyfriend knew what Dater was talking about.
Yeah as Steve said, Dater has a habit of embellishing every now and then. He’s been good though so I’ll let it slide.
I love it
