It is cut and dry...kiss the ring or die!!!

I

You may not realize this, but every player in thehistory of other Colorodo Avalanche who has ever held out has been traded or cut. Go back as far as you want….you won’t find one exception. I had the pleasure of chatting with Joe Sakic last year and even he could not come up with an example of when that was untrue. Look, I have been an Avs fan since the introduction of the team to Denver and an avid hockey fan since 1967 (man am I getting old). I have seen organizations like the Rangers give up their future for washed up stars (like Rick Middleton for Espo), I am not a cynic but rather a keen observer of an organization that is autocratic and arrogant.

Why on earth do you think Drury was traded. Owen Nolan and Chris Simon held out as well. Mike Keane had an amazing locker room presence for this team and was allowed to walk for a paltry couple of hundred k when he signed with the Rangers and was later traded to Dallas. The year Dallas beat us it and won the cup do you think Keane had added Iincentive to prove LaCroix wrong and kick our ass.

Look, I give credit where credit is due and LaCroix put together 3 of the best trades in hockey history with the Lindros deal being perhaps the best deal in the history of all sports. the other 2 deals were for Roy (and Keane), and Borque. But I argue that those deals were deals he fell into and not some strokes of genius as he has been given credit for. In the 90’s we could have won way more than the 2 cups we won had he not been so frivolous with our plethora of draft picks and prospects. Shoot, I cringe every time I hear the name Robin Regehr or even Tom Gilbert.

This organization is inbred and looking for greatness in all the wrong places. Look at the current coaching staff. What qualifications did Le Febvre or Deadmarsh have to coach? Tell me about the hockey pedigree that Greg Sherman (who by the way is earning my respect) has. Why is Eric LaCroix being groomed for management . No nepotism there???? Sakic….another story. This man exudes greatness. Having met him and talked to him on several occasions, it is easy to see first hand the silent leadership qualities he possesses. Kroenke should do with LaCroix et al what Bowlen did with Shanny….thank him for the good years and move on. Give Sakic the reins not Eric. Hire a blue chip coach instead of a blue collar one. I could go on and on….but I enjoy the banter and would enjoy it if the true fans that post here would barage my Tuesday 5pm radio segment on Mile High Sports (1510AM, 97.3FM) with phone calls so they consider extending it from 15 to 30 minutes. Mac and Doog have a great drive time show and are one of the only shows that give a dam about hockey. Cheryl, I would see love to have you as a guest!!!!

Nord GM Pierre Page made the Lindros deal, not PL. Though I don’t have a problem with most of the trades PL has made in the past. I do have a problem with humping the salary floor and ignoring glaring weaknesses. Which is why our leading scorer is 59th in the NHL.

See, I don’t understand how Sakic get’s a free pass but Deadmarsh and LeFebvre get criticized? They were all players, it’s not like one didn’t understand the game more than the other, one (Sakic) just had a much better skill set. You can’t teach skill, you CAN teach the game though, which all three of them obviously have a great understanding of. To be honest, I still don’t know what Sakic does.

I'm not questioning your powers of observation; I'm merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is.

Me neither. Changes the batteries on Sherman’s calculator?

Sit there and look like Sakic and maybe make a few phonecalls that start with “Hello, this is Joe Sakic”.

I do wonder how much he’s helping the current players out though. I would imagine that at least some of the current guys have gone to him for advice.

Just a Colorado girl in Montana who ♥s the Avs and writes for Mile High Hockey.

Let’s just assume he is learning off-ice stuff and will take over in a year or two.

I’d love to be a guest on the show. Email me and we can set something up!
