Per Chambers via Twitter:

Little more info about #Avs lines: Galiardi centering LW Mueller and RW Winnik. Stastny between RW Jones and (Porter?). They Want Muells LW

odd, I’m all for the LW thing, but Muells needs a playmaker….. which Gali, as much as I love the guy, is not.

by jd21 on Jan 14, 2012 12:15 PM MST up reply actions

Well with Dutchy out it’s slim pickins. They obviously want to keep Landy and Duke flanking O’Reilly. I agree that Mueller needs a better playmaker, but I think this is a seasoning thing. Get a few more games under his belt and then he’ll see time with Stastny.

The reason I'm in town, in case you're wondering, is because of a Kansas City Shuffle.

yeah, he only had about 12 minutes, might as well give him the third line for a few games.

Personally I think they want duchene to eventually take Gali’s place and put Gali back with Stastny, get us back to having 3 lines when we are healthy

by LeonardoC6 on Jan 14, 2012 1:45 PM MST up reply actions

… that’s an interesting line. I like Mueller with Gali though. I get the impression that Galiardi will protect him.

looking at stats for the Avs and love how beastly Stastny and Radar have been in the Faceoff circle this year

Can't listen to Party Rock anymore....all I hear is 'Everyday lines are Shufflin'

by lifeblood19 on Jan 14, 2012 1:38 PM MST reply actions

I had a worry, recently. I hope it’s nothing but I haven’t been able to shake it yet. I love Radar. I have since October of his draft year, with natural ups and downs. But I’m starting to wonder if he seems so good because of his surroundings.

Let’s look at everyone’s favourite comparison: Bergeron. Higher face-off percentage. Higher plus-minus. Similar takeaways. But when you watch Bruins hockey… Bergeron doesn’t have that same dominant look that Radar does.

There are only two conclusions that I can come to. One is that the numbers don’t reflect some additional factor which comes through on the ice. The other is that Radar looks better because he’s surrounded by players with less awareness than he.

by JProulx on Jan 14, 2012 1:42 PM MST up reply actions

or, he looks better because he is better. He works harder than anyone else on either team game in and game out.

I'm not questioning your powers of observation; I'm merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is.

by ProfessorOak on Jan 14, 2012 1:43 PM MST up reply actions

That doesn’t address the numbers, though. Unless the other alternative is that Bergeron’s numbers are improved artificially by his surroundings. That would make sense on plus-minus, but less so for takeaways. And even less so for faceoff percentage.

I’ll have to mull this over for a while. My dad is a Bruins fan, so I get to talk about this a lot.

by JProulx on Jan 14, 2012 1:45 PM MST up reply actions

I don’t know Bergeron’s numbers, but he obviously has better surroundings, and plays on a better team with 2 better goalies and better defensive core.

one feature from Defending Big D that i like... their Ref Report

No. 19 – Gord Dwyer – One of the younger refs who has been in the NHL since 2005 but has limited playoff experience. One of the best refs in terms of skating and positioning with a moderate overall call level and a tendency to talk/warn instead of call in the early going. Has previously been more assigned to the southeast division. Will make some control calls and has a slight home-team edge. Will swallow in the third but no preference to the trailing team. Moderate with the safety calls. According to an article I found, he now lives in Dallas.

No. 8 – Dave Jackson – Average skater with above average positioning and a moderate overall call level. One of the most veteran officials in the league, behind only Paul Devorski. Worked his first NHL game in 1990. Primarily assigned to the Atlantic Division. Will not make early control calls and will not swallow the whistle in the third or call more for the trailing team. Slight home-team tilt. Fairly moderate with safety calls. Worked as a substitute teacher during the NHL lockout. Called more than 1,000 NHL games. He and a linesmen were jumped an assaulted after a Bantam playoff game in 1982.

Nicest guy ever, which is pretty much a given him being a newf and all. Fiddler flew his family down and his kid got to go into the yotes dressing room and they got to see a ton of games. seems like a good guy. Just wish he won’t score on us again.
