Of All The Teams...
While I don't necessarily believe the Avalanche should be playing Detroit, I find it sad that the Toronto Maple Leafs are being considered. While they have a great fanbase, I like the Winter classic being in the U.S. (with the Heritage classic for Canada) and Toronto has no real connection to Detroit. I personally think a West Coast game could be great with the popularity that the Winter Classic has reached or even something that integrates West and East.

While I’m slightly pissed the Grey Wings get to play in another classic (because now the chances of the Avs playing in one soon against the wings is next to nothing), the facts are they’re both original six teams and they’re less than 250 miles apart (so the fanbase will probably be split). Also, seeing as how they’re in different conferences, both teams are more likely to let a close or tie game go into overtime as it gets closer to the end of the 3rd. From the network’s point of view, what could be better than overtime—potentially shootout—hockey?
On another note, since JML is a UFA at the end of this season I wonder if he’ll stay in crazytown Toronto. If he doesn’t wind up playing for them next year, it’s going to be hard to “root” for a team that has Pha-douche as their captain.
I'm such a huge fan of the Avs I can name who our goalie was FOUR seasons ago! Crazy, right?!
I bet the Wings will be in another one before the Avs get to be in one

I greatly disliked that the Winter Classic snubbed Canadian teams. If Detroit hosts Toronto it’ll be a good step for Canadian teams. I hate Detroit, but it could be a good classic. Now all the previous away teams will have gotten to be the home team. 2014 we should finally see some new teams.
The reason I'm in town, in case you're wondering, is because of a Kansas City Shuffle.

Montreal might get to play again in 2014….
Datsyuk may have done it first, but he learned it from Peter Forsberg.
Thanks for everything Foppa!

Does anyone think that KSE has even looked into this? Maybe put two or three of their 20 VPs on it to explore possibilities and put a proposal in front of the NHL and NBC? Nope, didn’t think so either.
So it’s going to be at the Big House at UofM? Other than amazing seating capacity, that would be better than one at Mile High or Folsom how, exactly?
F KSE. F the NHL. And F NBC.
