Would Liles have been worth $4.2 million for the next 4 years?
I'm sure I could be swayed either way. Food for thought, though.

I think Toronto got a great deal at 3.8/yr for him. I think as an AAV that’s not bad overall, he may be worth maybe 2 towards the end of it, but overall, I like the deal and glad that he’s happy there.

And by 4.2/yr I totally meant 3.8/yr. That’s what I get for posting at midnight after too many drinks.
I'm such a huge fan of the Avs I can name who our goalie was FOUR seasons ago! Crazy, right?!

So long as there....
was no crazy clauses, yes yes and yes.
For what we got, we got screwed on the Liles deal.
There didn’t seem to be a lot of better options out there. I agree though. Feels like we had a Full House and only won the ante.

Do the avs get anything extra now that he’s re-signed? I’m guessing no.

I’m fine with Sherman moving Liles – it opened up some room on our blueline and let us get bigger/meaner/harder to push around. I just wish he could have at least gotten Toronto’s 2nd rounder instead of Bostons for it.
But I guess it doesn’t matter because that pick is going to the Caps this year anyway.

The Caps may choose to take Colorado’s own 2nd round pick in 2013 instead, however, right? Which seems like it would be prudent, unless this year’s draft class is that much deeper than the projected one for 2013.

I don’t think so. I think they get Boston’s second.

No…he’s right. Caps get to choose whether it is Boston’s 2nd rounder this year, or the Avs 2nd rounder next year. That’s been pretty well known for a while. They’ll choose on draft day.

No
For what it’s worth, Chemmy at PPP doesn’t really seem thrilled with the deal.
Chemmy is pretty narcissistic though. A lot of other Leaf fans are pretty alright with it.

Whether or not that’s true, what does being a narcissist have to do with whether or not he likes the trade? In another story I saw it described as the fans were split on the deal.
Usually Chemmy is the first to point out negatives, while it’s nice to see the flip side of the coin and get different takes on it, it gets old after a while. It just feels like sometimes he’s always got a negative outlook. I think while some are split on the deal it may have to do more with who is going to get moved, they’re really hoping it’s not Gunnarson. A lot of them are really thankful for what he’s been able to do with their PP unit.

Didn't you hear?
Every good fan base needs at least one blogger/writer to be a Debbie Downer! Just like Dater!

Interesting that they extended him while he is currently on IR with a concussion (I think).
I'm not questioning your powers of observation; I'm merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is.
Maybe they like his recovery progress…..?
Datsyuk may have done it first, but he learned it from Peter Forsberg.
Thanks for everything Foppa!
