The Denver Cutthroats announced today rookie defenseman Markus Lauridsen has been called up to the team’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters.

Per Denver Cutthroats' press release:

The 21-year-old Lauridsen (LORE-ihd-sehn) is set to report to Lake Erie immediately. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound defenseman has appeared in six games for the Cutthroats this season recording six points on two goals and four assists. The Hellerup, Denmark native began the year in training camp with the Monsters before being assigned to the Cutthroats.

The Cutthroats begin a three-game road trip this week starting with a Wednesday contest against the Arizona Sundogs at 6:05 PM MST.

The Lake Erie Monsters visit the Houston Aeros on Friday.

For those who haven't heard, Tyson Barrie left Saturday night's game after having his head shoved into the boards during the Monsters' 6-3 loss to the Rockford Ice Hogs. The call-up of Lauridsen suggests that Barrie's injury is significant enough for him to lose time on the IR. Let's hope that it's not concussion related. When official news is released, we'll be sure to pass it along.
