Radar Signs Two-Year Deal with Metallurg Magnitogorsk

Avalanche RFA Ryan O'Reilly signs two-year deal with the KHL's Mettalurg Magnitogorsk. He joins his brother, Cal, and Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeni Malkin on the roster of one of the KHL's Eastern Conference power teams.

In news that shouldn't surprise ANYBODY at this point, Colorado Avalanche restricted free agent Ryan O`Reilly signed a two-year (yeah, two-year!) contract with Metallurg. The rhetoric coming from the KHL PR-nistas implies that, due to his current NHL contract status, Radar is willing to stay in the Ural Mountains unless somEbody shows him the (NHL) money!!!!!!!

Did our beloved Radar jump ship after NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman held his emo press conference yesterday? That may have been the proverbial straw, but more likely is that with his brother on the IR with an impending surgery, and all signs pointing to Cal heading back to Metallurg, why wouldn't he take some rubles for playing hockey?

The other question is whether he's really willing to rely on Russian dental services going forward? Let's just say I put the likelihood of that somewhere close to the odds we have an NHL season this year...
