UFAs to target-Suter and Parise
Pierre McGuire at Sports Illustrated suggested that Ryan Suter and Zach Parise, both UFAs after the season and good friends from their days in the WCHA, might be trying to sign with the same team this summer.

If this is true, lets bring them in! Obviously resigning O'Reilly, Duchene and Johnson should be a priority, but throw in a shutdown Dman and a legit 1st line left winger and you've got a contender in Denver.

Holy Crap.
I think we could make a deep playoff run next year if we even got ONE of them, but both? Oh dear lord. It’s a pipe dream I know, but a team of:
Duchene – Stastny – Parise
Landeskog – O’Reilly – Mueller
Gali – McC – Winnik
McLeod/Jones – VDG – Kobasew
EJ – Suter
SOB – Quincey
ROB/Wilson – Hejda
would be positively glorious and looks like something you’d see playing NHL 2012. Plus, the Avs are far enough below the Cap that they can probably afford both and still resign Radar, Dutchy, EJ and the gang.
Stastny, EJ – you guys were their teammates during the Olympics. You’d better be calling and convincing them to come here!

We may be one of the few teams who has the money and the cap room to be able to sign both. Let’s say they both get 7 mill per, maybe an average of 6.5, that should still give us plenty of room to sign other players. I doubt it will happen but we can dream can’t he?

We could actually add.. 7, 6, 5 and 4 million in payroll. After giving raises.. It comes out to around 67.1M. The cap would have to go up by 2.8 which I think is possible. Seeing as last year it went up by around 4M. Pipe.. but 6.5 cap hit for Parise and Sutter.. and you could add two more 4-5M contracts for top 6 wingers. Lets just take all the top UFAs Parise(7), Suter(7), and Semin(5-6). That is the total NHL12 team..
Duchene – 5M (Maybe 4.5? but probably something similar or exactly like what Tavares got. Avs could argue he has not kept up with Tavares but he could argue lack of talent on his wings and injury.)
O’Reilly – 4M (He is probably the hardest to figure out actually. Could end up being like 3.5 but I think 4M long term. IE Staal’s contract..)
EJ – 4M (This is so awesome.. If we sign EJ for a decent length of years 4-5 years at 4M it could be a great value if he continues to develop. If not it’s just an ok contract. Currently making 2.7)
Quincey – 3.5 (If we keep him, he is an RFA and I honestly don’t think he will get 4M but maybe.)
No one else on the team is really due a huge raise. Hejduk may even take a pay cut to stick around another year if the team looks that good. 3M is still not bad for him though if he can still pot 20.

Singing two unknowns does not turn a bubble playoff team into a serious contender… but it would make us a more serious team though… I like your optimism though.
Paul Stastny did, what Paul Stastny does. Score big goals.
Parise and Suter are unknowns?

There was an interview that Josh said
that the moves the team make this summer would show that they were serious about the team and going far in the playoffs. Whether that means going after UFAs? who knows but there are not many teams that offer the kind of fit the Avs could… plus the EJ & Stastny connection.
Languishing for Landeskog
