Let's Do This!!!
"I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant; it is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are." - Mewtwo
I’ve watched a few of their games since they picked him up. He’s actually had quite a lot of ice time.
Yeah,
cuz we have the immortal Kevin Porter on our 2nd PP, so….
2011-2012 Lokomotiv Yaroslavl: Vyechnaya Pamyat!
2011-2012 Colorado Avalanche: Chances are rapidly diminishing that this will not suck.
Come on, when we are healthy, it looks like
Mueller-Stastny-Hejduk
Duchene-EJ
Landeskog-O’Reilly-Jones
Quincey-SOB
when we are healthy
No team is ever healthy. You have to prepare for that with forward depth.
At exactly what point do you start to realize that life without knowledge is death in disguise?
So, can you tell me the last time that we were healthy and/or why our talent level provides for such a drop into the abyss when we’re not?
2011-2012 Lokomotiv Yaroslavl: Vyechnaya Pamyat!
2011-2012 Colorado Avalanche: Chances are rapidly diminishing that this will not suck.
Assuming we need to get 95 points to make the playoffs...
…here’s our options for the next 33 games:
16-6-1
15-5-3
14-4-5
13-3-7
12-2-9
11-1-11
…or better, obviously. Thankfully, the 8th place team in the West is on pace for a mere 90 points this year (Colorado is on pace for 86, btw), which, considering the incredible amount of three point games the West has had, shows a pretty significant difference between the top six teams and the bottom nine teams.
for 95 pts, that’s quite a bit, but for 90 pts it goes to 13-9-2, very doable. Let’s hope the cutoff is that low.

It tends not to be. If last year’s Eastern Conference run was any indication, three point games are more frequent towards the end of the season, and the playoff contenders tend to become bottom feeders. The West hasn’t had a 90 point playoff team in over a decade. The East has had four in the past decade: two 88s in 09/10, and 83, 87 in 02/03.
Everyone is getting hot now, I think it will be 95 as the teams push each other to be better.

I had it checked out at autozone yesterday, they said it was the throttle position sensor? And that the engine can disable because it doesn’t know how hard I’m pushing on the gas?
ah, sounds like something you gotta get fixed asap :/

I just moved here and I have no idea about mechanics. I was planning on taking it to the shop next door to my work tomorrow anyway, because the check engine light was on. But I’m kind of doubting I can make it that far.

It was not awful. Instead of red sauce, it had hot sauce, grilled chicken and Gorgonzola cheese. It needed more heat tho, and less creaminess. I think they put some ranch-type sauce on it. MORE HEAT!
Thanks, Joe... Thanks, Peter.... Thanks, Adam....
Yeah, i bought it, didn’t make it myself. Pretty good, tho. I just need to beef up the heat. I think I’m out of southern hot sauce tho. I may only have Indian and Mexican. Hm…..
Thanks, Joe... Thanks, Peter.... Thanks, Adam....
I don’t know any. I usually just drench things in Franks. Its good enough; I only like a higher spice level in Indian and Thai food. Other than that I tend to lean toward flavor over heat.
Thanks, Joe... Thanks, Peter.... Thanks, Adam....
As well you should.
I find Frank’s and Sriracha to be the two standouts. I haven’t had enough exposure to other sauces to be an expert, though.
I love Frank’s so much. It’s so delicious, that with a little bit of honey and brown sugar for sweetness tastes exquisite on hot wings.

If you have access to Moore’s Buffalo sauce, it’s pretty righteous. Not incredibly hot, but tasty, and no HF corn syrup to boot.

I never understood why people hate HF corn syrup. There are commercials saying it’s bad but never give you a reason, and then there are commercials saying it isn’t bad cuz it’s from corn.

It’s because your body can’t tell the difference. It’s a different chemical from glucose yet our bodies treat it the same. That’s bad mkay
At exactly what point do you start to realize that life without knowledge is death in disguise?
it’s partly glucose and partly fructose (naturally found in fruit) so I still don’t see the problem with it.
"I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant; it is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are." - Mewtwo
by ProfessorOak on Feb 19, 2012 6:36 PM MST up reply actions
It really is not very good for you. It has to do with how your body breaks down the sugars, and its more easily saved as fat and transfers quicker into the blood stream and sends the body a little out of balance. Its ok in small doses, i guess. I just try avoid sugars in general, other than the naturally occuring kind in organic matter.

how can salt not be kosher
At exactly what point do you start to realize that life without knowledge is death in disguise?
I think that, instead of being Kosher, this is the salt which is used in other Kosher foods; its not really different in itself.

Only different in how it is processed, away from pigs and other non-kosher items.

Landy has a ton of media appeal. It will only be a matter of time before his chiseled jaw is all over the Canadian media.
Pretty much.
He’s incredibly likeable, and rather funny. It made me realize how bad the DP is bad at interviewing the guys.

This. I’ve just been looking at these games as our team learning what it takes. Sometime to learn that, they have to fail, but I like to think that they are going in the right direction
You’d think 2 back to back 10 game losing streaks last year would do that to us…. but Duchene/Stastny/Jones/Hejduk have just gotten worse.
Paul Stastny did, what Paul Stastny does. Score big goals.
I honestly believed Jones/Hejduk slumping would happen even at the start of the year. Duchene, I can’t judge him until 5 games from now to get a good gauge. And Stats has been decent, not good enough but not terrible.

so what is this Family day?
"I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant; it is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are." - Mewtwo
It was a holiday introduced after the Lord’s Day Act was struck down. Originally in Canada, it was unlawful to conduct retail business on Sundays. Part of the reasoning was religious, but part of the reason was for families to spend time together.
The Act was struck down after the Charter came into effect as being counter to religious freedom. After this point, they introduced Family Day as a day to enjoy time with your family.

The holiday was proclaimed by Lieutenant Governor Helen Hunley, on the advice of her premier, Don Getty. Premier Getty said it was important for all Albertans to take time for their families and this holiday would emphasize the importance of family values.2
The third Monday in February is a regular working day in Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and the territories. British Columbia will begin to celebrate Family Day in 2013. As Family Day is not currently recognized in the federal sphere, federal employees in all provinces (such as public servants and postal workers) still work on this day. In Newfoundland and Labrador, the third Monday of February is a school board holiday, but not an official provincial holiday.

Sorry, but hitting an animal is NEVER the right way to go. It teaches them nothing but that you can abuse them, even if it’s a light tap. Dogs need positive reinforcement to really learn.

I didn’t say it was. I said that the animal learns that you can abuse it. That’s not an effective training method, especially for a dog. Getting the behavior you want by instilling fear is counter-productive when it comes to dogs.

You can yell no and aht and whatever you want all you want, but a puppy who doesn’t know who’s in charge of the house yet is gonna continue to do what it’s doing. A little physical contact that gets its attention allows you to replace whatever it’s got with an okay toy. You don’t have to hit hard enough to frighten, just to break attention. That’s not abuse.
At exactly what point do you start to realize that life without knowledge is death in disguise?
I’m not going to argue this with you. The methods I learned while studying animal training (specifically dogs) go against your philosophy. Those classes were based on research. You do whatever you think is right for your animal.

How do you stop a behavior that’s perfectly positively reinforcing enough for the dog then?
At exactly what point do you start to realize that life without knowledge is death in disguise?
To get a dog to learn that peeing is only for outside, you crate train it. When given the choice, a dog will not pee in its bed area. You need to make sure you take it out at reasonable intervals. If a dog pees in the house, you clean it up. It has done it for one of three reasons: it has not learned not to do it (bad training), it was not taken out in a reasonable amount of time (bad ownership) or it was acting out (either/both bad training and bad ownership). You have to be proactive with dogs. Praise them when they do the right thing. Ignore them when they do the wrong thing. They naturally want to please you, and they naturally respond to praise. They do not respond well to negativity. It’s not in their nature.

Potty training has shit all to do with a dog that thinks _ thing it just grabbed is the greatest thing in the world. You can’t ignore that.

He’s saying that potty training is distinguishable from a situation where a dog has picked up an item that it shouldn’t have.
You take the thing away and give it something it is supposed to use. As soon as you do you praise the shit out of the dog. If the dog runs away like it’s a game, making it so you can’t get the thing away from it, you ignore the dog. When ignored, it will settle down and sit or lie down somewhere. When it does, you give it something it is supposed to chew on and praise the shit out of it.
Using this and other methods, I have been able to train my dog so well she drops something when told, she will sit and stay even with food inches from her, she’s on a vocal leash and will ignore other dogs walking past her. Same is true of the dog I had before her. The same will be true for however many other dogs I have. I have also successfully used these methods to train friends and family’s dogs, even those picked up from a shelter with little to no training whatsoever prior to my work with them.
And I have never, ever had to raise a hand in any way, shape or form.
When hell freezes over, I'll play hockey there, too.

You say “no” take the thing away, and ignore the puppy. Seriously. That’ll get their attention more than anything else.
It’s the reason that my cat doesn’t use claws or his teeth. He learned the first day that I wasn’t going to play or pet him if he did that. He’s a well behaved cat because of it. hell, he’s the one that trained my mother’s kittens not to use claws or teeth.

Let's get more specific
super-energetic border collie puppy wants to play chase with you because she has something you very clearly want. There were eight of them in the litter, and two of them LOVE to play chase, constantly looking for anything they can pick up that will get them chased.
At exactly what point do you start to realize that life without knowledge is death in disguise?
Border collies require a TON of exercise. A tired dog is a good dog. If the dog is not getting enough exercise, it will misbehave. As for the chasing stuff, see above. Admittedly, it is harder to do when you have more than one dog in the house doing this and especially with puppies. But it can be done.

I’m signing off this thread and most likely won’t be back. In all seriousness, if you want tips, please feel free to email me. I’m more than happy to help.
Oh, three more things. First, if you can separate the two dogs that do that, it’s easier to get them to understand what they can play with and what they can’t. Second, when they are puppies, you really have to be aware of what is available to them. Keep the not okays up out of their reach or locked away. Have a basket full (and i mean full) of okays easily accessible. They’ll always go for what’s easy. Third, food is a fabulous incentive. You can usually get a dog to come to you by offering food. Use the treats designed for small dogs as they’re smaller and won’t be excessive calories.

This argument has been had many a time, I think its established that while it was minor overpayment we desperately needed goaltending for the future. We are done with the drafting portion of the rebuild, now we are developing and attracting key components.
Is it perfect? was it a good decision? We will see
For goaltending, yes it’s over. For defense, yes it’s over. For forwards? Getting a draft pick isn’t going to help them immediately. Solid FA signings will signal the forward rebuild is over.
