I had the pleasure of meeting coach Malarchuk once.
He finished his playing career here in Las Vegas playing for the IHL Las Vegas Thunder, he then stuck around and coached them as an assistant, and then as the head coach in their final season (98-99).

Datsyuk may have done it first, but he learned it from Peter Forsberg.

Wow, thanks for the link. I have to say that Clint Malarchuk is one tough SOB. I knew about him having that accident on the ice and I had heard he’d tried to commit suicide, but I didn’t realise how bad it was for him.
