The "Only Game Tonight" Game: #3 Florida Panthers at #6 New Jersey Devils, Game 6, 7:30 Eastern, NBC Sports Network and TSN (Panthers lead series 3-2)
The Devils hope to stay alive; the Panthers hope to move on. Only one thing can be certain tonight, though: no more rats. After the last game, the Panthers organization pulled the plug on the rats. No longer can you buy the rodent at the team store, and anyone caught throwing a rat on the ice will get ejected and possibly fined. I think I'm going to watch the game just to see how many are still thrown.
Some tidbits from NHL.com:
A victory on Tuesday would assure the Devils their first Game 7 since their 2009 Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.
(Jose) Theodore, whose other playoff shutout came on April 19, 2004 for Montreal in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals against Boston, was back in net for the first time since being pulled 6:16 into the first period in Game 3 last Tuesday in Newark. Theodore's only other playoff shutout was April 19, 2004, 2-0 for Montreal at Boston.
Florida has outscored New Jersey by a combined 7-1 in the second period of this series.
No definitive word yet on whether Theo or back up Scott Clemmensen will start for Florida although coach Kevin Dineen did hint it would be Clemmensen. Devils' line up expected to remain the same.
