The Colorado Avalanche have signed F P.A. Parenteau, agreeing to a 4-year, $16 million deal. Parenteau, most recently spotted skating for the New York Islanders, enjoyed a breakout season in just his second full NHL campaign last year, notching 18 goals and 49 assists for a career high 67 points. For his career, Parenteau has tallied 41 goals and 88 assists for 129 points in 188 games played. All but 9 of those points have come in the last two seasons.
The 29 year old Parenteau comes into the Avalanche organization with the expectation of playing top 6 minutes to inject some much-needed firepower into the NHL's 24th ranked offense and will likely be tasked with helping C Matt Duchene re-discover the scoring touch that eluded him last season. Avs fans wanted the team to spend some money on legit scoring players and the Hull, QC (or Gatineau, apparently?) native certainly fits the bill.
