The Colorado Avalanche have signed left wing Bryan Lerg to a two-way contract for one year at $525,000. Lerg is a small but gritty forward who came out of the US National Team Development Program. In the 2004 WJC18, he scored 2 goals and 6 assists in 8 games. He then played for Michigan State and, according to Hockey's Future player profile, was a major component in the Spartans winning the 2007 NCAA Championship title. In 169 games with MSU, he scored 68 goals and had 60 assists for 128 points.
Undrafted, Lerg spent time in the AHL (28g, 29a) with both the Springfield Falcons and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. He is most likely a depth signing for the Lake Erie Monsters.
